It's been a very busy 24 hours for our crews, who have responded to approximately 15 swiftwater rescue incidents and rescued more than 55 people across southeast Queensland following heavy rain and flash flooding. While conditions are expected to ease today, areas of flash flooding may remain and can reoccur very quickly. We’re delivering a record number of tradies and new apprentices to get our state building again. New data shows we’ve had the highest number of apprenticeship completions in the past year, with almost 13,000 Queenslanders now qualified and ready to enter the workforce. Labor’s decade of decline and lack of investment created a skills shortage in our State – and we’re fixing that. Our Government is proud to back Queenslanders taking on apprenticeships with programs like Free Tafe and Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s. Whether it’s infrastructure for the 2032 Games, health projects or the thousands of homes we’re unlocking, we are building the Queensland of the future and creating the pathways for anybody who wants to help us do so.

Queenslanders on the Northside of Brisbane have sent a strong message about choosing hope over fear. Our candidate Fiona Hammond achieved one of the biggest swings towards a government in Queensland’s history in the Stafford by-election last night. We put forward a vision for our State’s future while Labor ran another scare campaign without any basis of truth. We spoke about the real achievements our Government is delivering while Labor stoked fears. Bluey and Bingo are coming to Brisbane’s north! G’day Little Queenslanders is about celebrating our youngest Queenslanders - and we’re taking these events across the State.
