Four thousand Mexicans documented there. That’s $150,000 per person. Some of that money landed in Badiraguato, Sinaloa. The birthplace of the Sinaloa Cartel. A municipality with no significant migrant community sending money home. @FinCENnews has documented it. The @USTreasury has documented it. The flows from China weren’t workers sending money to their families, they were payments for fentanyl precursor chemicals routed back through the Mexican financial system as remittances. Andrés Manuel López Obrador knew. His Financial Intelligence Unit published zero suspicious activity reports in six years. Zero. He walked out to his morning press conference and celebrated the numbers as the greatest economic achievement of his administration. Four million accounts in Banco del Bienestar — the bank he built inside cartel territory — were touched by those flows. Eight million accounts across the entire Mexican financial system.
