🚨 Gurugram Strengthens Flood Disaster Preparedness Through Large-Scale Mock Drill As sirens echoed across Gurugram this morning, the district administration launched a comprehensive flood disaster mock exercise to assess emergency preparedness and inter-agency coordination. Under the guidance of District Disaster Management Authority Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Sh.Uttam Singh, the mock drill began at 9 AM with siren activation at the Mini Secretariat and immediate operationalization of the Emergency Operation Center (EOC). ✔️ Simulated rescue and relief operations were conducted at DLF Phase-1 Underpass, Signature Tower Underpass, and Basai Pond area with active participation from Civil Defence, NDRF, Health Department, Police, Fire Services, PWD, Electricity Department, Army, NSS, NCC, and other agencies. ✔️ A realistic flood emergency scenario involving heavy rainfall and severe waterlogging was created to evaluate rapid response systems, coordination, rescue capabilities, medical preparedness, and restoration of essential services. ✔️ The exercise included simulated drowning incidents, electrocution cases, trauma injuries, road accidents, and snakebite emergencies. A total of 23 injured persons were rescued and shifted to the Sector-31 Polyclinic and relief centers for treatment and rehabilitation. ✔️ Live monitoring of operations was conducted from the EOC by CTM Ms. Jyoti Nagpal, DRO Sh. Vijay Yadav, and Disaster Management official Ms. Poonam, while the Army supervised the overall exercise. The mock drill was also live-streamed for transparency and awareness. ✔️ At the staging area, SDM Badshahpur Sh. Sanjeev Singhla coordinated rescue and relief teams, ensuring safe evacuation and timely first aid assistance. ✔️ Deputy Commissioner Sh. Uttam Singh emphasized that the first few minutes during any disaster are the most critical, and timely rescue, medical care, transportation, and verified information dissemination are essential to save lives and prevent panic. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of NSS and NCC cadets, highlighting that community involvement and youth participation are key pillars of effective disaster management.
