There’s no such thing as a "freelance career".
A career is a progressive trajectory within a field, i.e. roles that build on each other, increasing in scope, responsibility, and compensation over time.
Freelancing is work. Potentially well-paid, skilled work. But it doesn’t have an inherent progression structure. Your leverage grows only as fast as your reputation and client base, which is entirely self-managed and non-linear.
It’s okay if you disagree, but at some point you’ll understand why in the long run freelancing especially as a software engineer is not an optimal strategic positioning, more so in the early stages of your professional development.
Freelancing is different from building a startup with an actual product. It’s easy to you’re also a startup founder.
