@official_QV @OneBlesseddSoul Lol. You would have told him after he went back abroad.. even if you didn't want a romantic relationship anymore.. you'd be amazed at how well he'd have taken it.. but you didn't even try 🌚

8 months of talking, I Finally received him at the airport. The mouth odor received me first. Voice notes. Video calls. Late night conversations. This man could talk. Funny. Smart. Intentional. I was at that airport 30 minutes early. He walked through those doors and I ran to hug him. Then he opened his mouth to say my name. I heard it before I processed it. Something ancient and powerful hit my nose.😭 I told myself it was jet lag. Long flight. Recycled air. Dehydration. I gave that man every excuse in the book. Day 3 same thing. Day 5 I was sitting across from him at dinner watching his mouth move and hearing nothing because I was calculating how to bring this up without ending everything we had built in 8 months. I said nothing. He went back abroad. We talked less after that. Drifted slowly. Never told him why. Till today he probably thinks the distance killed it. Baby the distance was not the problem. I just couldn’t spend my life turning my face every time you said I love you. 😭

You get to decide how far you want to go with it all. Your motherhood. Your growth. Your health. Your relationships. Your boundaries. Once you do, you'll move from this passive approach to life and things to active self-determination.

I was reading Instagram comments where women insisted marriage “traps” them and that divorced or widowed women “glow up” because they finally have freedom. That word kept coming up, and it exposes the real issue. If freedom is the highest goal, why marry at all? Why not openly push for co-parenting without marriage, single motherhood, or the abolition of marriage entirely? Marriage was never designed to maximize freedom. It is a binding contract built on duty, restraint, and sacrifice. The vows never promise happiness or autonomy. They promise commitment, for better or worse. What’s missing from this conversation is that civilization itself is built by people who gave up freedom. Roads, hospitals, power grids, families, and scientific breakthroughs exist because people chose responsibility over comfort. Tesla failed thousands of times before producing inventions that power the modern world. Nothing meaningful was built by people chasing ease. A culture of women obsessed with freedom produces women who feel “trapped” by any obligation. Marriage isn’t the problem. Entering a lifelong commitment while still worshipping autonomy is. Sacrifice builds families. Sacrifice builds civilization. Freedom without responsibility builds nothing. Marriage isn’t for everyone.

What opinion about women do you have that makes people feel like this?

You can’t change someone. But you will anyway. Not through arguments or ultimatums or that thing you do where you get really quiet and hope they’ll notice you’re upset. (They never do, by the way. They just think you’re tired.) You’ll change them the way water changes stone, by being around them long enough that they start to see themselves through your eyes. I dated someone who interrupted everyone. Constantly. Mid-sentence, mid-thought, didn’t matter. It drove me insane for months. Then one night at dinner with friends, I watched her do it again, and this time she caught herself. She looked at me, then back at the person she’d cut off, and said, “Sorry, keep going.” Nobody else even noticed. But I knew: she’d started hearing herself the way I heard her. That’s the thing they don’t mention when they say “accept people as they are.” You do accept them. And then they feel that acceptance so deeply that they finally have enough safety to look at the parts of themselves they’ve been running from their whole lives. Not because you demanded it. Because you made space for it. But here’s the trap: if you’re asking “can I change her” with a specific outcome in mind, you’ve already lost. You’re not in a relationship anymore. You’re in a renovation project. And people can smell that a mile away. They can feel when your love has conditions attached. It makes them smaller, more defended, and less likely to grow into anything you’d actually want. Honestly, it usually just makes them better at hiding. The real question isn’t whether you can change someone. It’s whether you can love someone enough that they feel free to change themselves. And whether the direction they’re growing is toward you or away from you. Sometimes you date someone, and she becomes kinder, more thoughtful, and more herself. Sometimes she becomes exactly who she’s always been, just louder. And sometimes, this is the one that hurts; she grows into someone beautiful. Just not someone beautiful for you. You can’t control which one happens. You can only decide how long you’re willing to wait to find out.

Is it possible to change someone you’re dating, I mean, their mannerisms or character?

The average Nigerian life exists in a state of decline, not bloom. The Alhaji, whom I once bought vintage glasses from at Lagos Island, went from selling in a library of glasses to trading a small stock in a portable show-glass and later, an old briefcase. He couldn't afford the shop. He couldn't afford the merchandise. After a while, he left the spot entirely. Some of those Ebonyi boys in Lagos have gone crazy with hustle. They go from selling phone accessories to socks and handkerchiefs to getting bread from supermarkets like Shoprite and Bokku and selling them on the street. Nigerians get permanent deformities from small accidents because of a lifestyle, circumstance, and a system that prioritize staying alive over living. They survived—it's all that matters. When I was in the bank, I discussed Hugh Mcculloch's ‘Advice for Bankers’ with one of the senior employees. Mr. Hugh Mcculloch was the Comptroller Of Currency, U.S Treasury, in 1863, when he laid out an Advice for Bankers, which would later become a set of principles for Modern Banking. I told them that by those principles, a banker must be paid well and not get into petty loans—constantly. To prevent the likelihood of financial irresponsibility. They mocked me lightly and said I should focus on meeting my weekly targets rather than talking like a professor. "All your generation talk about is money." "Hardwork and experience, first. The money will come." Yet, a senior staff projected that at least 60 per cent of Junior staff in the same Bank were debtors or microfinance banks and loan sharks. (He'd done an audit of such nature not long before I got employed.) He wasn't wrong. There were stories of people, including my own friends, who got robbed of their laptops, tablets, and phones when they were either coming to work or going back home. The Company wouldn't compensate them. When they did, it was not sufficient. Yet, they came to work as early as 6am and sometimes left very late at night. Some still came to the office during the weekend. One lady was in the middle of a professional exam, which she could barely afford when she was robbed. I remember she had once protested to her bosses for how inconsistent they were at providing hotel accommodation for their late night work. After she got robbed, some people blamed her for not being alert and careful. She was depressed but showed up as if all was well, so she wouldn't be the centre of attention. Another one got into an accident but still came to work even as she had a bleeding scalp. She had a lot of hair, yet the bleeding was obvious. I asked why she didn't go straight to the hospital. She said “If I don't come to the office, they'll say I'm lying, and I can't risk it because of staff appraisal.” When you ask these people to “Dare to dream," what are your expectations? Are they practical? Beyond the occasional moments of hope inspired by the worship songs they sing religiously, they have almost nothing. They just try to look presentable enough to show up daily—sleep deprived and desperate. Their wages are divided between Loan App repayments, savings—which would later be consumed by bills—and expenses exhausted by social expectations that matter to them, such as outward adornment and career development. Life is terribly harsh and uncertain. We must understand that people just want to work, pay their bills, and have enough time and vitality to tend to other things outside work. It's this simple. Can't regular people live a healthy life?

“Today, I officially retire from professional football. The journey has been filled with challenges, victories, and lessons that shaped me into who I am today. Though I hang up my boots, my purpose in the game continues — to give back, to guide, and to be a voice for players.

FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT (Thread) People thinking Faking it till you make it is a myth and can’t work, but that is in fact untrue. Nobody likes anything real, they love the superficial things, the things they wish they had and pray to get. They love to watch that reality play out for others, glorify those people and wish it was them. But the best thing after being them, is being their friend. Now this is where you need to fake it. @theugleeone started posting watches on this app from the 7th of February 2024. His posts at the time had no traction because he’s new on the block. Could have even bought the account and didn’t start from having 0 followers. One thing he sure did was stick to posting items expensive To make him appear like he wasn’t after your money, and he had original pieces. Next post comes with a giveaway, that nobody claims to have won, the price to win at this giveaway is little Just 10k which $10, there is traction but it’s not there like that.

This is the petition I sent to the German Consulate in Lagos about that Mr Paulinus. Note the web links about same man. I don’t know if they did something about it, because they didn’t even reply this email. I planned to escalate to the German Federal Foreign Office. If I hear further reports about same man, I will escalate for sure!

Free Rhoda Jatau! Again, what part of the constitution says that you can be charged under Sharia Law when you’re not a Muslim? Sharia Law is only supposed to apply to Muslims. Nigeria is NOT an Islamic state. There is a serious jurisdictional issue with the case of Rhoda Jatau. We are a secular state and she is not a Muslim. How can she be subject to Laws that she doesn’t subscribe to? This wasn’t the understanding when sharia Law was implemented in the North. Was it? We know Nigeria is a lawless Nation but should Islam append to this lawlessness? Abi is it until we start Abrahamic Law in the south that people will calm down? You can’t force someone to abide by the laws of a religion she doesn’t belong to. Makes no sense! Every well meaning Nigerian regardless of tribe or religion ought to add their voices to the call to #FreeRhodaJatau #FreeRhodaJatauNOW
