@mikeomeara16 I’m guessing Europeans is a big target this year so maybe an approach focused on that rather than both champs. I’ve always preferred the approach of an indoor & outdoor champs (barring injury/illness) Athletics careers are short, take your champs chances when your fit

What a weekend of athletics. Kate O’Connor is exceptional. 3 global podiums in a row (with a European medal too) is outstanding. 🇮🇪🏆👑 What a talent & what a coaching team effort led by her Dad 💪❤️

@mikeomeara16 Assuming the athletes didn’t make themselves available for world indoors. If you’re missing the top 2 there’s not much point in putting in a team at global level. I didn’t check invites but also assuming they got invited

@Cathal_Dennehy Athletics has always had strong parity on coverage. I think the nuance is a sport like athletics gives the coverage but in the overall scheme of sports coverage it gets way less than sports that are heavily male dominated in terms of coverage. If that makes sense 🤣

@DervalORourke They ran the local athletics club when they came home and one of the girls a couple of years ahead of me made it to the Atlanta Olympics and they had coached some of the Kenyan olympians when they were in Kenya.

This was an incredible experience. To see first hand the work of the Irish and in particular brother Colm. A real honour

@DervalORourke My physics teacher in school spent a few years there with his family. He and his wife coached athletics as well as teaching. They came back to ireland when their eldest was starting secondary school.

Woke up yesterday morning with excruciating pain. Ended the day having emergency surgery to remove a kidney stone. Never nice being so ill, especially being so far away from home but the South African medics were amazing 🤩
