Remote work and telemedicine were two things that disabled people had wanted for years. They’re the kind of accommodations that make a huge difference in our quality of life & allow us needed autonomy. Why are folks cheering to end telework? How does it hurt them?

When I saw Trump signed the executive order eliminating remote work for all federal employees and hearing the gleeful cheers of his supporters it just enraged me since it disregards the right to accommodations under the ADA. This is just the beginning

If you’re seeing all the air filters and respirators being handed out for free in LA, remember these resources are only available because covid activists have remained steadfast in advocating for clean air and mask use since 2020.

You're not a serious public health program, practitioner, or health scientist if you don't understand this—or advocate for it. We don’t tolerate wildfire smoke or smoking indoors because we know the devastating impact on health. Yet we continue to ignore the dangers of airborne pathogens that damage multiple organ systems—neurological, cardiorespiratory, endocrine, and immune systems included—allowing them to circulate freely in public spaces. Waiting for the CDC to require air-cleaning technologies in healthcare facilities, schools, restaurants, and public spaces is like waiting for a chef to clean the kitchen after a food poisoning outbreak. It’s their job, but they’re too busy keeping costs low to take responsibility—and people are left paying the price with their health. Clean air isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. Protecting public health shouldn’t depend on whether someone thinks it’s affordable or convenient. It’s time to act, with or without mandates. Because protecting public health should never be optional.

New modeling study finds that if everyone in the United Kingdom had worn N95 or FFP2 masks from the start of the pandemic, the rate of COVID-19 transmission would have been 9 times lower.

For the first time, Saint Louis University’s graduate student workers will be represented by a union. They voted 352-39 to unionize. “This feels like the greatest achievement of our lives,” said Zach Davis, a doctoral candidate in American studies. 📸: Jude Thomas @TheUNews

It's disturbing seeing some medical professionals normalize RFK Jr by saying "we have to meet him halfway." NOPE. RFK Jr is a charlatan who has deliberately spread disinformation that has killed people. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.

As a scientist who is the director of science communication for the medical center of a major university, my advice is: Please don't rely on an economist who has spread misinformation about COVID to advise you about how to effectively message on public health.
