@PaulPabst My Dad is of that same era in Chicago (Brother Rice) - he told me of going to a high school football championship game at Soldier Field and it was -41 at kickoff.

Very sad about Dick Butkus. He (#41) and my dad (#54) played HS football together and stayed friends well afterwards. He lived in our town of Glenwood when I was young. I ran into him a few times while at ESPN and he would give me stories from their time at Chicago Vocational.
