Today, DRPS members, including @Chief_Moreira, attended the 2026 Ceremony of Remembrance at the Ontario Police Memorial today in Toronto. Hosted by the Ontario Police Memorial Foundation, the ceremony honours officers from across the province who have died in the line of duty. Our members were proud to stand alongside police service partners from across the province in remembrance of those who gave their lives in service to others. Heroes in Life, Not Death. #OPMF #NeverForget #DRPS #HeroesInLife

Durham Police has noted an increase in fake iPhones being sold through Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji. You can protect yourself by meeting the seller at an Apple Store to have the iPhone verified as legitimate prior to purchase. Buyers and sellers are encouraged to find a safe public place for exchanges to ensure the safety of both parties. If the price or deal seems to good to be true, it probably is. For more information on how to protect yourself from fraud please visit: drps.ca/community-safe…

Durham Regional Police Service would like to alert the public about an ongoing annual trend called ‘Senior Assassins Game,’ involving students and youth. This trend is typically carried out annually by senior high school students in the spring or at the end of the school year. Participants are given specific targets, with the goal to 'hunt' and 'assassinate' those ‘targets’ using water guns or nerf style toys. There have been incidents where participants have targeted uninvolved persons in public. The game can occur in various settings, including public spaces during the day and evening. DRPS encourages youth to be outdoors and engage in fun and safe physical activities in safe spaces. However, parents and guardians are asked to speak with their children about the risks and dangers of participating in this game and using toys that can resemble or be mistaken for real guns and weapons. Using water guns or toys that resemble real firearms or weapons can lead to fear and concerns that trigger full emergency responses from police and may lead to criminal charges.
