@PharmDinDOworld In my field there is a shortage and will continue to be. Declining apps to pharm school, declining pgy1 apps, and then spills downstream. Seeing midyear this past year and hearing stories in person and on social media of broke desperate students. It's criminal. My 2 cents

@drrx4L Well, that’s a whole separate issue that I’m sure we both could spend hours discussing lol. It has, and will continue to be, a barrier for the foreseeable future unfortunately. I do think you will see this type of language “walk back “across most accrediting bodies

So why is this being done?

@PharmDinDOworld Perhaps and I understand some colleagues are put in tougher situations on this issue than myself. I do think that promoting standardization transparency and low cost recruitment are simple ways to do this. I also wish that ashp see that Midyear is a huge barrier to accessibility

@drrx4L I think the question schools in affected states are asking is “How do we maintain accreditation when we are barred from doing the things required to get said accreditation by state law and given recent SCOTUS decisions?” Not so much a walk back, but a reframing maybe?

@PharmDinDOworld That's disappointing walk back. Our approach is accessibility, transparency and keeping costs down. Our assessments are standardized. We tried to offer alternative recruitment events that were low cost.

@drrx4L To avoid running afoul of state laws barring DEI would be my bet
