We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Burnley and England international goalkeeper Colin McDonald at the age of 95.
The Tottington-born player signed for the Clarets as an amateur in July 1948. He spent the first couple of seasons playing for the Reserve team before he was called up for National Service in 1950.
During his time with the RAF, he played for Headington United, prior to returning to Turf Moor after he had completed his time in the armed forces.
In 1952 he signed a professional contract with the club, however he had to bide his time before making his debut for the first team in April 1954. He established himself as Burnley’s number one and for the next couple of seasons he as more or less ever-present
Unfortunately, he broke his ankle in a game against Chelsea in December 1956. On his return from injury, he continued to excel for the Clarets and was selected to play for England in Moscow, prior to the 1958 World Cup tournament in Sweden. McDonald played in all four England games during the tournament and was deemed by many, as the best goalkeeper.
Our thoughts are with all Colin’s family and friends during this sad time.

🗣️ Scott Parker on his position as Burnley Head Coach:
“That's out of my hands. I have the utmost support from the ownership, from everyone at the football club. Of course, we're all frustrated at the moment, of course we are. But I'm fully committed and I feel like everyone at the football club is as well really.”

The Egyptian government has said @Keir_Starmer knew about the vile messages put out by Fatteh.
So Starmer lied to bring into this country someone who hates us and wishes us harm.
Starmer must go.

I simply cannot see the justification for importing in thousands and thousands of foreign medical staff, many of whom are not properly qualified and unable to speak English, when we have our own trained people unemployed. What is the possible reasoning behind it? It is MENTAL. To be honest.
I've heard from so many British medics who are unable to find work. I just can't get my head around it. Are the people running NHS recruitment THAT incompetent?
And why are we allowing foreigners to train in our medical schools? We should lift the strict cap on medical school places, and give those spots to British boys and girls.
We're turning someone away from training to be a doctor because they didn't get absolutely 100% perfect results in school? Let's show some common sense here.
If a smart young Brit wants to study medicine, let's make it easier for them to do so. It's that, or we continue importing in foreign medics. Can we always trust their exam/qualification system? No. No we can't.
Put some proper funding into courses for nurses, midwives, doctors, radiographers - everything.
Start investing now. The problem is, the benefits won't be felt until years down the line, so politicians aren't interested. Short term thinking is what's got us into this mess, it certainly won't get us out.
The system is absolutely buggered.
