New: USAID Inspector General Paul Martin was fired this evening. In an email viewed by @NewsHour, Trent Morse of Office of Presidential Personnel, informed Martin around 5:30pm, writing Martin’s position is “terminated, effective immediately. Thank you for your service.”

New: The Inspector General of USAID was fired today, a day after his office released a report critical of the impact of the Trump administration’s efforts to dismantle USAID, @jmhansler is reporting.   Paul Martin was informed via an email from the deputy director of the Office of Presidential Personnel Tuesday evening that his position as inspector general of USAID was “terminated, effective immediately.”

For decades, USAID has helped the U.S. lead on the world stage by promoting food security, global health, economic prosperity, and democratic governance. We must boost government efficiency while continuing to show up and engage abroad as the partner of choice.

USAID's foreignassistance.gov website - a resource that offers detailed data on USG $$ by country and progam (going back more than a decade) is down. Needless to say, this is a critical resource to those of us working in this space.
