I might be mistaken and I’m open to correction, but I saw no official statement saying the President will no longer update the majority of citizens using social media on @elonmusk X. Catherine Connolly is meant to be a President for all the people, not just the socialists and lefties of Ireland. Let’s be clear, I’m not a fan of the President of Ireland and she doesn’t represent me or my politics, but her role is supposed to be impartial and she knew that before she ran. This needs to be investigated and an official statement issued explaining why there will be no further official statements on @elonmusk’s X, while they are instead hosted on BlueSky, a social media platform that is dedicated to like minded lefties, socialists and communists.

@Eve_Barlow 🤣🤣🤣 Amazing stuff, when you are done shilling for a government who are actively committing war crimes then there is a career for you as a top fiction writer.

I’m on a flight and my air host hands me a glass of champagne, sees my Magen David and beneath his breath whispers “L’chaim”. He asks me if I want a splash of juice in my glass. I said “just a side of Am Yisrael chai”. He smiles. I say “are you a member of the tribe?” He says “I just found out yes in my bloodline.” I ask “where are you from?” He says “I am from Venezuela.” I say - “holy shit so how are you feeling right now - good?” He says “I’d love to say more. I will just say I feel more hope than ever for the world. Toda raba for all that you do.”

@larissaphillip @waitbutwhy Is social entropy a genuine thing as well? Seems society is constantly fighting against outside forces breaking it down.

This is probably the biggest thing I learned living on a farm. We are in a constant state of defending our boundaries from decay, rot, overgrowth, wild animals, and just general collapse. And the town doesn’t do it for us. I think this has a profound political effect on the rural mindset.
Anna Riedl@AnnaLeptikon

Somehow it was learning how many people are fulltime employed to maintain the Golden Gate Bridge that flipped something inside of me in my understanding of the entropic force civilization has to constantly fight against. Before that moment I thought — I had not applied real conscious thought — you simply build a building or anything really and then you just … have it. After that I understood everything is constantly at the brink of being lost.

I’m popping back in to ask (a) for other allies of the Jewish community people to please stand up, and (b) for the critics to please stop now. This impacts not just me but my family. I do my utmost to shield my parents from all of this but I’m home for the break and couldn’t stop myself from crying in front of them. It pains me that I have now caused them upset and they are questioning why others with more power than me don’t put their heads above the parapet. 1. I am not paid by any government or organisation, Israeli or otherwise, for what I write. 2. I am not a grifter and have turned down multiple media opportunities. 3. I am vocally pro two-state solution, l always strongly supported a ceasefire and hostage deal, and oppose both the occupation of the West Bank and the settler violence therein. 4. I did not choose the headline. My headline was ‘Identity, Loyalty, Betrayal: Bondi Beach massacre is the tragic result of a nation turning its back on its loyal Jewish citizens’. I did not like the headings that were chosen because (a) my piece was more broad ranging than just Ireland and (b) because the ‘we’ in the heading would inevitably lead to debates over the specifics of my personal identity. I am a raised Catholic of Jewish heritage who is converting to Judaism. Please stop obsessing over my identity. I regret agreeing to write the piece for the Sunday Independent despite it being the one I put the most delicate thought into. All my other pieces I wrote in an afternoon. This one I spent days ruminating over, thinking of all the conversations I had had with Jewish loved ones over the past year, and how best to capture the return to otherisation they had collectively experienced. The vicious response, which included innumerable personal attacks that are continuing now multiple days later, is just devastating when I consider that I was walking with my dad on the pier last week saying that I thought this one could open hearts and minds. Despite everything, I still maintained that same misplaced confidence that Isaac Deutscher. It is gone forever now. I should not have written this piece for an Irish outlet and will not write again on this subject for an Irish outlet. Please stop and leave me alone now.
Rachel Moiselle@RachelMoiselle

I just received a phonecall from a friend in Boston who said that she was speaking with people who watched the reaction to my Sunday Independent article unfold and were horrified. She affirmed that decent people stood with me and the Jewish community in Ireland. I’m going to be vulnerable here: after the phonecall, I just burst into tears. I am only human and, despite my platform here, am not a public figure. I have turned down multiple media opportunities, both nationally and internationally. I am an introverted PhD student who never expected nor sought this level of platform. I never thought so many people to know my name, let alone for there to be a warped public perception of me that is so completely divorced from the reality of who I am and what I stand for. Whatever one’s opinion on me or the status of antisemitism in Ireland, it cannot be denied that the level of vicious abuse I have received over the past few days for writing an article that just asked people to listen to the Irish Jewish community, is wildly disproportionate, frighteningly obsessive, and frankly deranged. I am not a paid propagandist. I do not have any connections to or control over the Irish media at all - I have written three articles in total in two Irish news outlets, both of whom approached me. It’s been days of this now and it’s just too much for any individual to handle. I’m logging off for the next day or two. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year.

And some people elected this liberal atheist, not one mention of the Christian holiday which is Christmas. And not a word from most outlets in Ireland as we have become a nation of sheep unfortunately.

President Catherine Connolly has called on the public to “celebrate diversity, champion sustainable solutions to the climate crisis and advocate for peaceful resolutions to war” in her first Christmas message from Áras an Uachtaráin. jrnl.ie/6910166

@JHamillHimself Thats a ridiculous take, nobody mentioned jews or eurovision. Whats being proposed is a state suffer consequences for its war crimes. Same way Russia are being rightfully punished on the world stage. I would want no part in any movement which is even remotely anti-semetic.

When Russia launches total war against Ukrainian civilians and kidnaps Ukrainian children by the thousand, Ireland must remain strictly neutral and withhold military aid. When a Jew wants to sing a song, the 'politically neutral' RTÉ must make a stand. Ireland needs to grow up.

@SmallerFishGAA League would have been very competive in Donegal up until few years ago. There has to be a happy balance somewhere that fits into split season. Would we have space for a a percentage of league games without and then play some games with your county players?

@EamonMcGee that's always been the way in Laois, depending who you're playing, and the sky hasn't fallen in. There's a split season and it fits club championship in, don't tell me you want room for club league games?
