Here's something I've been working on for a long time. Butter Flavored Butter Does Not Contain Butter is an industrial metal song with a guest vocalist most of you know and love and some of you really hate which makes it even better. It started as a joke sent my way that that phrase would make a cool avant garde industrial metal song title (thanks @CeriJPhillips1) that grew from there. I kept thinking about how pertinent artificiality layered on top of artificiality was to so much happening right now. Turns out there's a name for that, which is Baudrillard's concept of hyperreality, something I learned about on the @NewDiscourses podcast. @wokal_distance has a way to explain hyperreality that is really useful too (which has something to do with his current pfp). George Soros' concept of reflexivity feels like where the rubber meets the road with hyperreality, the weaponization of the concept. So this song describes both. We are in a virtualized, hyperreal world, likely more than any of us realize, in ways we don't realize. It'll be on YouTube, Spotify, Apple etc soon, but thought I'd show it to you all first here.

People with locked-in syndrome are only considered disabled because we privilege a specific type of body that we call "normal" and thus discriminate against people who cannot see, hear, speak, or otherwise move. The fact that we have not always operated via a virtualized world that interacts with the physical world with robotic avatars made possible by direct brain-computer interfaces is only because of our bigotry against people with locked-in syndrome.

It's exactly my distaste for civilian blood that makes me hope we completely depose the nation that has been targeting civilians for bloodshed quite explicitly for decades, and I hope we use the most overwhelmingly powerful and moral military force in human history to do it.

@entropyrian @ConceptualJames Don’t tell me you’re one of those war mongers with a taste for civilian blood

You also had to pretend a random dude no-one knew about while alive dying somewhere was something everyone around the world cared violently and sobbingly about. I think the left broke its illusion of control with that as much as COVID, but the juxtaposition of both was a huge mistake.

The fact that our whole country went riot-bananas and literally called you a Nazi if you didn't go along with making a national hero out of a criminal who was dying of a fentanyl overdose after passing a bad bill to a Palestinian is really, really crazy when you look back at it.

It's been many, many years of meeting in the middle with a nutjob mob about American foreign policy. I'm done doing that, and fully support a ground invasion of Iran. It would be one of the most justified wars America has ever fought.

@entropyrian How was it hard to dislike smug self righteousness? Or the Jew hate like his son and grandson. Or the bigotry in his newsletter he was somehow not responsible for despite his name being on it (a very conservative attitude btw)

Ron Paul offered young conservative men a way to fit in with the America-hating left while still identifying as conservative. To the left, they could fit in with the America-hating zeitgeist by saying "oh yeah I don't hate America but I do agree with you that I hate what it's doing and has done" To the right, they could say "I'm actually MORE conservative than you because I hold my country to a higher standard". All the while they were completely missing the tendency, even inevitability, that hatred of what something is doing grows into hatred of the thing itself.

@ConceptualJames It's Ron Paul, man. Chief proponent of critical America theory. All "foreign intervention" is evil. When America does it. When others do, they were just forced to by America. Exactly the way critical race theory treats whites.

@entropyrian @ConceptualJames The reasons involved are not in any meaningful way conservative. The only issue that is actually conservative that the hard right is exploiting to get portions of the right to hate America is immigration, and Trump gave the right everything it can reasonably ask for on that one.

There's so much to like and appreciate about the United States of America, past and present, not to mention its potentially glorious future, that I can't really fully understand how Critical America Theory even took off. There's no place like it. The last best hope on Earth!
