It's #WorldWaterDay (22 Mar). In Vietnam, the Mekong Delta is a vital agricultural and economic hub, supporting millions of people through its rivers, fertile soils, and groundwater resources. Yet the region is facing elevation loss. An #EOSsg study examines the key drivers behind this issue and outlines solutions to slow it. bit.ly/4cUAclb

Even if a #river appears calm, hidden currents may still be present. Assoc. Prof. Edward Park, a Principal Investigator at #EOSsg, told The Straits Times that underlying flow & localised currents, especially near bends or structures, can be hazardous. straitstimes.com/singapore/kall…

#ClimateRisks too hot to ignore: #ElNino is not just a fleeting climate phenomenon – it causes long-term societal and economic shock. A new #NTUsg-led study has found that the intensifying El Niño events could cut life expectancy by up to 2.8 years by 2100 and lead to US$35 trillion in economic losses. The findings underscore the urgent need for stronger #ClimateChange adaptation, early warning systems, and long-term planning. ntu.sg/ElNino-Study #NTUsgResearch #NTUsgInterdisciplinary #NTUsgSustainability @NanyangBizSch @EOS_SG @NatureClimate @NaturePortfolio

Participants at our 2-part #InVEST_EOS workshop got a hands-on look at how scientists study and monitor volcanoes. This event underscored the importance of low-cost instruments, like those being explored by Associate Prof Benoit Taisne and his team through our InVEST programme.
