Makenzie is my youngest, and to say I’m proud of her would be an understatement. She’s a relentless competitor, a fierce athlete, and an exceptional student who has put in the work to create her own opportunities. She’s dominated in multiple sports—swimming, volleyball, flag football, track, and basketball—but it was track that paved the way for her to continue her education at the next level, completely covered. At Roosevelt, she’ll be competing in the triple jump for the track and field team while also continuing her basketball journey alongside her sister, something she’s done before. Seeing them share the court again at the collegiate level is just another testament to the dedication and drive that runs deep in our family. The recruiting process was an incredible experience, and I truly appreciated all the visits and interest from so many great colleges and coaches. It was humbling to see how many recognized not just her talent, but her work ethic and determination. In the end, Roosevelt checked all the boxes, offering the perfect balance of academics, athletics, and opportunity. @MakenzieHawk has never been one to settle—she pushes herself in everything she does, balancing the demands of high-level athletics and academics with a level of discipline that continues to amaze me. She maxed out every AP class available, never dipped below an A, and even had enough credits to graduate before her senior year started. That kind of drive is rare, and it’s what makes me so excited for her next chapter. She’s earned this, every bit of it, and I have no doubt she’s going to thrive.
