Finishing a warm up with some form of power/ potentiation exercise like this shown by @DPWorldTour pro Matteo Manassero is a great way to get yourself primed for the explosive action of the golf swing. Often this type of exercise is missing from many warm ups, but is a key part of the RAMP protocol we encourage golfers to follow when warming up.

Standing single arm Dumbbell shoulder press This variation is excellent for training power, stability, and force transfer through the entire kinetic chain: 1. Improves Rate of Force Development (RFD) •Pressing one arm at a time forces rapid force production to overcome instability. •Requires the nervous system to recruit motor units quickly, a key component of RFD. •Especially effective when performed with intent to press explosively (while still controlled). 2. Trains Ground-Up Force Transfer •Force starts at the feet → ankles → knees → hips → core → shoulder → arm. •You must actively “push into the floor,” teaching the body to transmit force efficiently upward. •Mimics real-world and sport movements (throwing, striking, blocking). Shown here by New Zealand @DPWorldTour golfer Kazuma Kobori

A staple of professional golfers exercise programmes is med ball slams and throws like this example shown by @joaconiemann (at the Paris Olympics in 2024) who is one of the fastest and most athletic golfers out there. Note the intent in his slams, which is extremely important to ensure you are getting the best effect from this type of exercise.

Partial squats from the rack are a great way to get high loads through a player in a golf specific range of motion. A limited range also means the player is likely to take on less overall fatigue than a full depth squat - making the exercise a great in-tournament option’ Shown here by @DPWorldTour pro and winner @richardmansel14 as part of his warm up and training last year at one of the tournaments.
