
@CaitlinPacific This is likely a selection effect and not a causal effect of the major, IMO. Kids choosing majors like philosophy and math are probably much smarter (and affluent) than their peers.

Populism pits the common people against a narrow, unrepresentative elite. This sort of politics doesn't work if you are actually representing a narrow, unrepresentative minority! Effective populists can tell the difference.
