5 Reasons to Go to Church:
1. Worship God with Others: your faith wasn’t meant to be solo.
2. Hear Truth: you need Scripture, not just opinions.
3. Find Real Community: people who know you and grow with you.
4. Grow Spiritually: not just informed, but transformed.
5. Be Sent Out: church equips you for what God calls you to, not to run from it.
Be the Church. Go to church.

What are the major differences between Catholicism and Evangelical Christianity?
These aren’t small nuances, they shape how we understand salvation, authority, and the daily Christian life.
1. Authority: Scripture vs. Scripture + Tradition:
Evangelical Christianity: Holds to Sola Scriptura. The Bible alone is the final authority for faith and practice.
Catholicism: Teaches that authority comes from Scripture + Sacred Tradition, interpreted by the Magisterium (teaching authority of the Church, led by the Pope).
2. Salvation: Faith Alone vs. Faith + Works (Grace-enabled):
Evangelicals: Believe salvation is by grace through faith alone (Ephesians 2:8–9). Good works are the result of salvation, not a cause of it.
Catholics: Teach salvation begins by grace but involves faith working through good acts (including participation in the sacraments and a life of obedience).
3. The Role of the Church:
Evangelicals: The Church is the community of believers. No single human leader has universal authority.
Catholics: The Church is a visible, institutional authority founded by Christ, with the Pope as the successor to Saint Peter.
4. Sacraments / Ordinances:
Evangelicals: Typically recognize 2 ordinances: Baptism & the Lord’s Supper. These are symbolic acts of obedience.
Catholics: Recognize 7 sacraments, including: Eucharist, Confession, Confirmation, Marriage, etc. These are believed to actually convey grace.
5. The Eucharist (Communion):
Evangelicals: Typically see it as symbolic remembrance.
Catholics: Believe in transubstantiation. The bread and wine become the actual body and blood of Jesus Chris (while still appearing as bread and wine).
6. Mary and the Saints:
Evangelicals: Honor Mary as the mother of Jesus but do not pray to her or the saints.
Catholics: Venerate Mary and the saints asking for their intercession (prayers).
7. Assurance of Salvation:
Evangelicals: Often emphasize assurance of salvation. You can know you are saved through faith in Christ.
Catholics: Typically emphasize hope and perseverance. Salvation is something to remain faithful in, not always claimed with certainty.
8. Confession of Sin:
Evangelicals: Confess sins directly to God for forgiveness and atonement. Confess to other believers for accountability and fellowship.
Catholics: Practice confession through a priest (seen as acting under Christ’s authority to forgive sins).
BIBLE TRUTH:
The work of Jesus made the way possible to go directly to the Father. You don’t have to go through a priest or pope for forgiveness and restoration.
The Spirit intercedes for you, so you don’t have to appeal to Mary and the Saints for intercession.
You are saved by works. It’s just not your works, it’s the works of Jesus (life, death, resurrection). Trust in Him, and Him alone!

9 Common Lies Christians Believe: And Why God's Truth Is Infinitely Better by @shane_pruitt78
Kindle: $4.99
paperback: $14.21
“Here’s a clear and compelling antidote to the kind of common clichés that so many people uncritically believe. Thanks, Shane, for pointing readers to biblical wisdom, where hope and truth reside!”
— @LeeStrobel, New York Times best-selling author of The Case for Christ and The Case for Faith
“It’s the book we all need to read. It’s the book we need to encourage others to read. It’s the book about lies we have heard and maybe even believed throughout our Christian lives. Shane Pruitt takes the lies and turns them upside down to point us to biblical truth. He writes from the heart of one who loves Scripture but also from the heart of one who has had to endure these lies amid his own heartaches in his family. Thank you, Shane. Nine Common Lies Christians Believe is a gift to all of us.”

Jesus and World Religions:
Different world religions don’t just disagree on small details about Jesus they often redefine who He is entirely.
Here’s how major world religions view Jesus:
Islam:
Jesus (called Isa) is highly honored, but not divine.
-Seen as a prophet, not the Son of God
-Born of a virgin (Maryam)
-Performed miracles
-Not crucified (most Islamic teaching says he was not actually killed)
-Will return before the final judgment
Islam respects Jesus, but reject His deity and the Gospel as Christians understand it.
Judaism:
Jesus is not accepted as the Messiah.
-Seen as a teacher, false messiah, or not significant
-Rejects the idea that He fulfilled Old Testament prophecies
-Denies His divinity
Judaism says that Jesus didn’t meet their expectations of what the Messiah would do.
Hinduism:
Views about Jesus vary widely because it’s very diverse.
-Often seen as a holy man, guru, or even an avatar (divine manifestation)
-His teachings are respected, but not exclusive
-One of many ways to understand God
Hinduism says that Jesus can be “included,” but not as the only way.
Buddhism:
Jesus isn’t central, but is respected.
-Viewed as an enlightened teacher or wise moral leader
-Not divine
-Not a Savior from sin
-His life is sometimes compared to a compassionate bodhisattva
Buddhism focuses on personal enlightenment, not salvation through Jesus.
Jehovah’s Witnesses:
Changed core beliefs about who the real Jesus is.
-Jesus is the Son of God, but not God Himself
-Believed to be the first created being (identified with Michael the Archangel)
-Deny the Trinity
Jehovah Witnesses is not a Biblical worldview.
Latter-day Saints (Mormons):
Attempt to redefine who the real Jesus is.
-Jesus is the Son of God, but distinct from the Father
-Created by Elohim and one His spirit wives
-Brothers with Lucifer
-Salvation involves both Jesus and human works/ordinances
Mormonism is not a Christian belief system no matter how much it claims to be.
New Age beliefs:
Jesus is a good example for us, but not a Savior.
-Jesus is a spiritual teacher or enlightened master
-Emphasis on His teachings, not His identity as Savior
-Often deny sin, atonement, and exclusivity
Jesus is a figure to be respected, but no need to worship Him.
Atheism:
God doesn’t exist. Religion is made up. We chart our own path.
-Jesus may be seen as a historical figure, moral teacher, or myth
-No belief in divinity or resurrection
The world is constructed by a series of coincidental circumstances. There is nothing beyond this life.
The Truth:
Jesus is fully God, fully man, the only Savior, crucified and risen! He is King of kings and Lord of lords and will one day come back for His church.
