First Minister Michelle O’Neill and Junior Minister Joanne Bunting have attended Londonderry Chamber of Commerce President’s Annual Lunch where they addressed over 200 business leaders and key stakeholders from across the north west.

Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly met with Nathaniel P. Dean, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of European and Eurasian Affairs during her final day of engagements in Washington DC. She raised the importance of strengthening trade, investment and business connections between NI and the U.S. and took the opportunity to recognise the vital role the U.S. has played in N.I.

Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly attended the America250 Reception hosted by the Department for Communities and the America250 Commission in Washington DC. It was an opportunity to promote the long and rich shared heritage we have with the U.S. and talk of the opportunity of the future.

Junior Ministers Joanne Bunting and Aisling Reilly met with Chair of EU-UK Parliamentary Partnership Assembly @sandrogozi while in Brussels for a series of St Patrick’s Day events.

Junior Minister Aisling Reilly and Junior Minister Joanne Bunting visited a data centre site in Wallonia, Belgium with Coleraine-based company TriEX. The Junior Ministers met with the TriEX team to learn about their work and hear how the company’s expertise in sustainability and renewable energy is powering critical digital infrastructure across Europe.

Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly met with the UK’s Ambassador to the U.S. Sir Christian Turner KCMG in Washington today. They discussed a number of issues including the importance of strengthening the economic ties between us and the U.S. by building new connections that are of mutual benefit. The Minister also joined the Ambassador for a special breakfast event marking St Patrick’s Day during which they thanked everyone for their continued efforts to champion NI as a great place to live, work, invest, visit and study.

Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. She spoke to the President about the close historic and cultural ties between Northern Ireland and the U.S. and the importance of deepening that connection and forging new partnerships that will benefit people in the U.S. and NI. Junior Ministers Aisling Reilly and Joanne Bunting met with Ambassador Aingeal O’Donoghue, Irish Permanent Representative for the EU, during their visit to @BrusselsNI. They discussed a range of topics relevant to the NI Executive, including the UK-EU relationship and the upcoming Irish presidency of the council of the EU.

The Ministers highlighted the office’s pivotal role in promoting NI as a great place to live, work, study, invest and visit. They took the opportunity to thank staff for continuing to build and strengthen existing partnerships.

Addressing the audience of key stakeholders and university students, she spoke about the importance of working together and strengthening relationships built on trust to ensure a peaceful, prosperous future filled with opportunities for everyone.

Deputy First Minister Emma Little-Pengelly addressed the audience at the launch of this year’s Washington Ireland Progam in Washington DC. The Minister, who is an alumni of the programme, said it plays a vital role in fostering relationships with the U.S. and encouraging emerging leaders to play their part in building a future of peace and prosperity for everyone.
