The FIGO Committee on Preterm Birth invites obstetricians, midwives, nurses and other maternal and newborn health professionals to complete a new global implementation survey on PremPrep-5 – an initiative that focuses on five simple, evidence-based interventions proven to improve outcomes for preterm babies. This anonymous survey takes just five–ten minutes and is available in English, French and Spanish. Responses will support efforts to improve care and outcomes for babies born too soon worldwide. Endometriosis affects one in ten people, yet diagnosis is often delayed for many years due to reliance on surgery, limited specialist training and barriers to accessing appropriate care. A study led by members of the FIGO Committee on Reproductive Medicine, Endocrinology and Infertility (REI), now published in the International Journal of Gynecology & Obstetrics (IJGO), shows a significant global move towards using non-invasive imaging, particularly specialist ultrasound and MRI to diagnose endometriosis. Preterm birth (PTB) is the leading cause of mortality among children under five and a major contributor to lifelong morbidity, disproportionately affecting low- and middle-income countries. Post-caesarean sepsis is a leading cause of maternal mortality, with infection rates as high as 20% globally.
