As a former law enforcement officer and someone who loves my home state immensely, I am deeply concerned by the ongoing situation in Minneapolis and the metro area overall. Above all, I urge everyone, including elected leaders and the citizens we represent, to do their part in lowering the temperature so we can avoid further escalation. Yesterday's tragedy is something no one wants to see happening in Minnesota or anywhere else. As in all law enforcement incidents where lethal force was used, a full investigation will ensue. None of us should rush to judgment or fan the flames until all the facts are known and that investigation is concluded. The reality is that Minneapolis has become a tinder box. This is in large part because, rather than cooperate with legitimate law enforcement operations, Twin Cities politicians are urging people to interfere with them. This is placing our officers under immense pressure and creating a more volatile situation for everyone. It is past time for deescalation and that will require real leadership, which has so far been missing. Minnesota leaders must stop encouraging these actions—so far, they've only incited and inflamed the situation. I am urging Governor Walz, Mayor Frey, and local officials to seek cooperation and calm moving forward. I also encourage residents that want to exercise their First Amendment rights to do so in a lawful manner, without interfering with law enforcement and unnecessarily putting themselves and the officers in a dangerous situation. When law enforcement agencies cooperate at all levels, public safety increases. I am praying for all of our leaders—national, state and local—to rise above and find a peaceful path forward. Working together, we can rid our streets of the most violent and dangerous criminals who are in our country illegally and keep Minnesotans safe.

@Kiehle4Congress @0liviajulianna Not like this that’s for sure. I care about due process and our constitutional rights. This isn’t a court of law so he can share stories from his officers. Not everyone wants to be put in the spotlight and get attacked for sharing their story. Doesn’t mean it’s not true.

It does not prove citizenship, but to get a real ID you have to show legal residency or proof of citizenship. So a Real ID is a fairly reliable indicator that the person is legally present. If you have any better ideas on how to find, identify and deport tens of millions who are present illegally please do share. Everyone would prefer to avoid this, but allowing illegals to remain is not an option.

@Kiehle4Congress @0liviajulianna I live in MN. A Real ID does not prove US citizenship. You also don’t have to get a Real ID. It costs more and not required for driving so if you have a passport or don’t fly/enter fed. buildings you can just get a standard license. Only required starting last May for that.

This is called “heresay”. He is saying what he heard someone else say. Heresay is not admissible in court. Name and Produce the officer and have her tell the story from her point of view. BTW, in the story she was stopped while driving. MN has had Real ID since 2018. So how TF was she unable to show her Real ID DL which itself is proof of citizenship or legal residency. Or is the department hiring illegals as cops?

When Twin Cities politicians spew hateful rhetoric about our law enforcement for months, it gives their constituencies permission to violently attack my brothers and sisters in uniform. The events of today are the result. Minnesotans deserve leadership that respects the rule of law and encourages deescalation and cooperation.

@UpnUpyo @ChaseForLiberty I get gas at Sam’s club and pay with the app. Going back into April and March, lowest price was $2.64. Most often it was $2.84-$2.87. I know there are swings throughout the state but that is a big difference.

@ChaseForLiberty Gas has flip flopped a few times here in MN and over the last month or so I’ve seen gas prices under 2 bucks multiple times. However it’s always back up again rather quickly.
