Did you know about these Italian superstitions? 🇮🇹 1️⃣7️⃣ In Italy number 17 is unlucky – Friday 17th is seen as unlucky rather than Friday 13th. But 13 is seen as an unlucky number of people to have at a table >>

I love my Saturday morning reading spot – with sun streaming through the blind slats, birds singing in trees near the open window, Classic FM on the speaker, a pot of coffee by my side and a croissant warming in the oven. Bliss

I've been to Venice a few times over the years, first visit age 7 but my recent visit was particularly special because I took the book I wrote that was set there, published in 2023 for the first time. Obviously, I had to take a few photos of it in the setting where it belonged

The Ponte Vecchio in Florence, spared during the war while surrounding bridges were destroyed. It appears in my new book, The House in the Tuscan Hills in both 1945 and present day as the setting for two significant scenes. I took this photo from the Uffizi a couple of years ago

Last summer in Tuscany in the charming hill town with the towers, San Gimignano – a photo opportunity around every corner. I stayed nearby while researching my novel, The House in the Tuscan Hills

I went to Haslemere library yesterday to pick up my HDMI cable, left there last week after my talk and there is still a lovely display of my books on the front desk. Just had to take a pic!

Last summer in Tuscany this was the breathtaking view from the balcony at my hotel near San Gimignano. This became the view from the garden in my novel, The House in the Tuscan Hills

Last month in Murano. My daughter and I took the vaporetto there from Venice where we were staying in Cannaregio. We went for a delicious lunch not far from this spot. I had spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino

I had so much fun talking at Haslemere library yesterday afternoon about the inspiration behind my books and The House in the Tuscan Hills. A fantastic group of engaged attendees who asked lots of questions – a few shared their own stories about things relating to my books too

In last night's photography class, we learnt about aperture and shutter speed. My battery ran out halfway through annoyingly... I just haven't got into the habit of charging it, but I won't let that happen again! This week I want to get outside and practise in pretty scenery

Had such a lovely time with old uni friends - who I lived with in Siena in the 90s - yesterday... we went to an Italian restaurant in London, obviously. This carbonara was AMAZING

When I went to Tuscany to do my research for The House in the Tuscan Hills last summer, I just had to select one of these pistachio pastries at breakfast in the hotel every morning – so delicious and obviously they appear in the book!
