EXPRESS UDL can support & benefit MLs because it pushes us to become intentional about providing choice, connecting with students backgrounds and prior knowledge or experiences, forming goals, embedding multimodal forms of representation & increasing ways learners respond. When a child enters school, what is their street-level experience? - What’s on the walls? - How clean and organized is the space? - Who greets you when you arrive? - How are you greeted? (language, nonverbal cues, words) - How clear is signage? - Do you feel seen, loved, valued?
