(🧵1/11) For the past year and a half, I've been investigating OpenAI and Sam Altman for @NewYorker. With my coauthor @andrewmarantz, I reviewed never-before-disclosed internal memos, obtained 200+ pages of documents related to a close colleague, including extensive private notes, and interviewed more than 100 people. OpenAI was founded on the premise that A.I. could be the most dangerous invention in human history—and that its C.E.O. would need to be a person of uncommon integrity. We lay out the most detailed account yet of why Altman was ousted out by board members and executives who came to believe he lacked that integrity, and ask: were they right to allege that he couldn't be trusted? A thread on some of of our findings:

The Jewish Defense League (JDL), founded in Brooklyn by Rabbi Meir Kahane, was designated a terrorist org by the FBI in 2001. It has rebranded over the years—Yad Yamin, now Herut—but its tactics remain the same. These groups, continue their legacy of attacking mosques.

in light of the controversy this book has garnered, I thought I'd share this video we made a while ago that shows footage and photos of the actual workshops we conducted in Gaza. You can get a copy at any bookseller near you or online. 100% of proceeds go to the writers themselves and to Palestine Writes Literature Festival. Neither I nor Huzama (Arabic editor) receive any material compensation whatsoever from the sale of this book.

"The sniper who shot my friend Jihan's 3 year old daughter Noor, shattering her tiny legs while she was in her mother's arms in Gaza, is a hateful, racist ghoul -- I understand that's one of the things I've been criticized for saying. And I double up on it, frankly. But the rage, the disgust even hatred that Jihan or I feel toward that sniper is not racism. It is not anti-Jewishness. It is not anti semitism. Nor are her feelings toward the tank operator who blew out the back of her son Arhab's head, making her fingers sink into his brains when she tried to pick him up. Our feelings or words in response to 78 years of this barbaric, colonial violence are not 'reprehensible.' They are not antisemitic. And they are not anti Jewish. In fact, despite everything they have done to us -- despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of Jews both inside & outside of Israel support this zionist carnage & domination -- we still have the tender human sense to recognize those Jews, however a minority they may be, who do not support Israel. And to embrace the far smaller minority who are anti zionist, in fact."

If a filmmaker can't be bothered to respectfully answer a simple but important question about how their work relates to the reality of society outside the theatre they not only have no business making films with those themes, they don't deserve to be praised and awarded for them.

Zohran is going to break ppls heart way more then AOC because he plays the fence so well one day he can sound like a leader of resistance the next a shill for Israel. I knew something was off the moment he said absolutely nothing while he knew I was in Prison in Israel.

He was never involved with Columbia encampment other than appearing & he had to be cajoled Now he's writing a book on it? He didn't defend precarious faculty like myself who were fired in the Columbia Congress hearing, he's a liberal settler of color on stolen land like his son
Nicholas Fandos@npfandos

He said his next book would be about Israel, Palestinians and the campus protests against the war in Gaza at Columbia University in 2024. “I must be involved, whatever the cost,” Professor Mamdani said. “It is part of my responsibility.” nytimes.com/2026/03/14/wor…

This is a brilliant, concise, and measured eloquent statement about the right of the oppressed to speak the truth of their oppression and identify the oppressors with the correct labels of their violence. Zorhan Mamdani has been offered grace in a way he better repay in kind.

Mamdani condemns his wife making artwork for the brilliant and renowned Palestinian literary @susanabulhawa because she called Zionists parasites Yet pays his respects and made pilgrimage to Rabbi Menachem Schneerson’s grave, the same rabbi who said: “Two contrary types of soul exist. A non-Jewish soul comes from three satanic spheres, while the Jewish soul stems from holiness.” “A Jew was not created as a means for some other purpose; he himself is the purpose, since the substance of all divine emanations was created only to serve the Jews.” “The body of a Jewish person is of a totally different quality from the body of members of all nations of the world… the difference is so great that the bodies should be considered completely different species.”

This is deeply disturbing and not enough people are talking about it. Zohran Mamdani just went to the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s Ohel in Queens, venerating the founder of the racist, Zionist Chabad movement. The Rebbe’s movement has a long history that should make anyone pause. In 1991 a car in his motorcade killed 7‑year-old Gavin Cato, a Black Caribbean child in Crown Heights. The first ambulance to arrive was Jewish Hatzalah, which took the Jewish driver and passengers before treating the child, who was killed by the motorcade. The Rebbe never apologized or took responsibility. Fast forward to April 2025: Chabad invited far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben‑Gvir to their Brooklyn headquarters. Outside, a mob of Orthodox men chanted “death to Arabs,” surrounded and chased a woman they thought was a protester, threatened her with rape, kicked her, hurled cones and trash cans, and another Jewish supporter of Palestine was hospitalized with a bloody head wound. Hundreds followed her for blocks before police got her to safety. Chabad-Lubavitch is actively cheering on and materially supporting the Israeli military. Branches have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the IDF, a Chabad charity in the U.K. was officially warned for buying military equipment for soldiers, and senior rabbis in Israel lobbied the government on war policies and settlements, framing military action as religiously mandated. Their “Moshiach” messaging and flags are everywhere — on Israeli tanks in Gaza and across NYC streets — signaling a messianic justification for this violence. So Mamdani is venerating the leader of a sect that: • is politically and rabidly pro-Israel, • has tolerated violent, anti-Arab racism, • never reckoned with a racist tragedy in its own motorcade, • has materially and ideologically supported military operations in Gaza. Meanwhile, he hasn’t said a word about Gaza since the ceasefire on October 10, even though around 400 Palestinians have been killed, including children and civilians. Our people are dying daily, and not a whisper.

In 2023 he told me Palestine was his entryway into politics *and* the reason he joined DSA. I think it’s fair to hold him to his word.

Our issue is that we treat him as if he is a house of cards; as if his entire project would collapse if we dare criticize it. But the reality is simply different: if he is only getting pushback from the right he will inevitably move to the right. Basic physics really

Once in a meeting w Mr Mayor he told me that when I criticize him I “give people permission to go after his wife.” Very funny remark in retrospect.

Dear Fam, I'm hugely grateful for the outpouring of support following Mamdani's unfortunate capitulation to zionist power in which he chose to disparage and repudiate me. I didn't see what was happening until late yesterday, after I returned from an iftar with friends. I plan to post a response later today or maybe tomorrow, enshallah. In the meantime, let's keep our focus on the crimes and victims of Jewish supremacist zionist ghouls, vampires, parasites, etc.
