Christin absolutely should pursue legal action.
Christin Bentley SD-1 SREC@Bentley4Texas

It came to my attention over the weekend that my name was being tied to a Super PAC called Texas Freedom Coalition PAC, which was formed in February 2026 and dissolved in March 2026. A Thomas Datwyler of Wisconsin was listed as the PAC’s treasurer. Let me be very clear: I have absolutely no affiliation with this PAC or with Thomas Datwyler. In 2020, in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdowns, my husband, a friend, and I founded a nonprofit corporation called Texas Freedom Coalition. Although I remained on the board for a period of time, I stepped away from organizational activity after being elected to the State Republican Executive Committee in 2022. The nonprofit corporation itself was dissolved several years ago, and the website built for me by Al Gilani of The Big Red in December 2021 was taken offline around that same time. I first met Al Gilani in 2021 and hosted events for several of his candidates during that election cycle. In January 2022, I briefly discussed the possibility of forming a PAC, and Al connected me by email with Thomas Datwyler. I never pursued the idea. Imagine my surprise when I discovered that a PAC had been formed in February 2026 using the name “Texas Freedom Coalition PAC,” with Datwyler listed as treasurer. What is more concerning is that the PAC’s website copied written content word-for-word from the original Texas Freedom Coalition website that The Big Red built for me years ago. It also used photographs from past events and flyers I personally created. The logo itself stated “Established 2020,” directly tying this new Super PAC to my former nonprofit corporation. Brian K. Bodine’s name also appears on the website. Brian previously had an affiliation with the original Texas Freedom Coalition, but he was never a board member and was removed from his role in 2022. Here is where the situation becomes particularly troubling. This PAC reportedly sent mailers in the Denton County Precinct 4 Commissioner race endorsing Valerie Roehrs and attacking David Wylie. From publicly available information, it appears some of those mailers may have been distributed after the PAC had already dissolved. Valerie Roehrs’ consultant is Al Gilani, and campaign finance reports reflect substantial payments (six figures) to him and his firm. People can draw their own conclusions. I believe my intellectual property was improperly taken from a website that had been inactive for years, likely from materials originally shared with Al Gilani and his associates during the 2021 website development process. David Wylie served alongside me on the SREC for three and a half years. I think the world of David. He is a steadfast conservative, principled to the core, and a genuine truth seeker. I considered him an ally and a friend, and I would never support efforts against him or his candidacy. I am grateful for his victory and believe he will serve Denton County well. Unfortunately, politics is often filled with dirty tricks, and the consultant world is small. I am considering legal action. At a minimum, however, I wanted to publicly set the record straight because AI-generated associations and online search results are now tying my name to this PAC. I had no involvement in its creation, operation, expenditures, or political activity.

America does not have a shortage of information. It has a shortage of discernment, which is what happens when people consume headlines like communion, outsource conviction to influencers, and wonder why their souls feel malnourished by Wednesday afternoon.
