Save Monkton Park

It would appear that the monstrous Chippenham car park and office block have run into problems with @GoodEnergy & @wiltscouncil Is this true? The development next door has been cancelled apparently due to the eyesore car park impacting on it too. Please clarify.

@Chippenhamtcl Looking for clarification please on why the flood plain has been mowed. This is not a meadow but a different type of habitat and should not have been cut like this. Can you make an assurance that this is being looked into and managed properly....

Dear @GoodEnergy , the ugly multi storey car park that you are complicit in instigating flies in the face of your 'green' credentials. The town council don't want it, the park will suffer from it and Chippenham will be more polluted and clog up even more as result of it.

Sadly, @wiltscouncil - in partnership with @GoodEnergy have ignored general opinion in Chippenham and approved the multistorey car park next to Monkton Park. It's a very poor decision for the town and contravenes countless core policies and conservation zone directives. Hopeless.

@peevee01 @wiltscouncil @GoodEnergy Yes it is. The traffic surveys for this are poorly executed and there is no real mitigation. Look out for the application! It will add to the chaos.....

This is a proposed new multi storey-car park & office development which will blight the skyline of Monkton Park. It's a redirection of public funds to benefit @wiltscouncil dressed up as part of a 'masterplan' with an 'employment' card being played via @GoodEnergy Alternatives?

Wiltshire County Council are planning to build a totally unrequired multistorey carpark on the edge of Monkton Park. Planning will be going in shortly and we urge all to look at this proposal with a view to protecting the park and its views. @Chippenhamtcl

Plans for a skatepark in Monkton Park have finally been withdrawn by the Council. Sadly more time and money wasted but there is an alternative on the cards. FOMP would like to concentrate on helping to improve and preserve aspects of this historic landscape; all ideas welcome.

Make sure that the prospective councillors in May's election who knock on your door have clear ideas about's what's good for our local parks

Highly laudable but a perfect illustration of how the park is not looked after properly. Councillors are having to pick it up - bad message.
