@Brennan_Font16 Feel like 40 games is a good number, eight weeks, five games a week, assure two days off per week for each team. June and July, get the kids back home. There are shorter leagues, many options for guys. But making the choice for a longer league then bailing early, eh.

Are we ready to talk about shortening the collegiate summer leagues that run through school starting?

Now imagine a collegiate summer league.. But instead of adding another 40 games AFTER the NCAA season, it’s built around actual player development. •16 Games Only •Motion Capture Assessments •Trackman •Individual S+C Plans •5 Days/Wk of Planned Training

@OhioWarhawks Agree that many are just there because their parents paid their fees and they can't really leave. But there's shared responsibility here. Summer coaches can make the experience worth it, create a good atmosphere. Players know how long the season is when they sign and can choose.

Had a long talk with several collegiate summer players. They’re just going through the motions at this point. They just want some time off. Are the college summer leagues too long?

@gspence1 @OhioWarhawks But they know that going in, don't they? When they sign with a team or league, don't they know the schedule? They can choose to play in a shorter league, coaches can (and should) send instructions on use so minimize burnout.

@OhioWarhawks They start games in February. They then go right to summer ball. Some of them live with host families so they don't get to go home and just relax until sometime late July/early August.

Was talking to a coaching buddy. We both talked about how when we started as young coaches we weren’t allowed to have an opinion you did all the things nobody wanted to do and you threw every single Bp ball ( while the others sat and ate Dunkin). Very different now..
