🟥 No Robertson Contract Offer, No Complaints, Liverpool Got It Right
Liverpool didn't offer Andy Robertson a new contract, and rightly so. Say it plainly, because sentiment has a habit of clouding judgement where good players become great servants and great servants become something close to sacred. I count myself among Andy's biggest admirers; few have given more, or carried themselves better, in the colours of Liverpool.
But the clue sits in his own words. "A conversation we all had". Read it properly, and the picture sharpens. Robertson wants to play, not occasionally, not in rotation, but as a starter with purpose and rhythm. Liverpool cannot give him that anymore, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise.
So there's no contract, because there's no point in one. Not an insult, not a misstep, not a failure of loyalty. It's clarity. A player who still trusts his game, a club that must move to its next phase. Anything else would have been disingenuous.
Fans will remember the engine, the defiance, the voice that helped drive a team to new heights. They should. He earned that memory. But memory can't patrol the left flank, and it doesn't recover ground when the game stretches.
This is what respect looks like in football when it's done properly. No empty gestures, no false promises, no slow fading into the background. Robertson goes to find his football again, Liverpool move forward as they must, and both walk away with their dignity intact. No insult occurred.

We don’t mind who supports our club, as long as they align with our values. Love the club like we do and you’re seen as one of us. Forcing division over ex players opinions is mental. And for the record, if you can’t appreciate what @Carra23 done for LFC, you certainly don’t see the game like we do. Second most appearances ever, a number that will not be beaten. 11 trophies, including FA Cup and European Cup. From 2004-2007 the debate was Terry or Carra. For me personally he was one of the best CB’s the club’s ever had. If we were going to battle, I’d want Jamie next to me! Wore his heart on his sleeve and gave everything he had for that red shirt. He may not have sprayed 40yard passes, but the notion that he was average is complete nonsense. Concentrated on defending and put everything he had into it. A top fella who does all sorts for local charities and supports many local businesses. A hero to many of us, but you’d never know it if you bumped into him coz he’s as grounded as they come.
We didn’t “dream of a team of Carraghers” for nothing you know!!

🟥 The Manager, The Ownership, The Inevitable
As laid out in my match post earlier, the performance wasn't an outlier. It fits a pattern that has been building for months.
This should have been addressed in November. The evidence was already there. Since then, it has only grown stronger and more damning.
Five consecutive domestic defeats, something not seen since 1953. Six losses in seven league games, going back to 1902. Nine defeats in twelve matches, the worst run in over seventy years. Ten league defeats in a season, a threshold not crossed in more than a decade. Nineteen defeats across the 2025 calendar year, set against one in the entirety of 2024.
These are not selective numbers. They are the reality of where Liverpool are.
FSG, along with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, own that reality. This is their appointment, their structure, their judgement. Reluctance to confront a failing decision has allowed the situation to deepen. There is a sense that being proven right has been prioritised over being effective.
They rarely speak, but when they do, it's often about data guiding decisions. The data now is unequivocal. Performances have declined, results have collapsed, and the trajectory is unmistakable.
The head coach looks like a man awaiting his fate. The players look unconvinced. The supporters are moving beyond anger into something colder, to a man, woman, boy, or girl; we are doubters again.
This international break offers a final opportunity to act. Not as panic, but as recognition.
A week ago, the idea of an interim felt unnecessary to me. Now it feels like a question worth asking. What is there to lose? The only caveat is clear: it cannot be someone seeking to turn it into a permanent role. The club must not stumble into another long-term mistake.
If a short-term figure, even someone like Steven Gerrard, can restore belief, connection and basic standards, then it's worth considering.
Do nothing, and the direction of travel is already clear.
