Hey Illinois, my shadow is almost touching you 🫵

Before anyone asks, "Hey, what happened to the Gateway Arch lights?" Let me explain... Every May, I pay special attention to my feathered friends flying overhead. This month is one of the busiest times of year on the Mississippi River Flyway, so I keep my lights off to help protect migrating birds traveling. Until June 1, when my lights turn back on, here are some photos to remind you how bright I can shine.

Some things have changed, but views of me from the top deck of a riverboat cruise remain ICONIC.

Happy Mother’s Day to the women who taught us to dream bigger and always look up. Instead of flowers, give her the mother of all views in St. Louis!

I rise 630 feet over St. Louis. But the courage shown throughout history at the Old Courthouse rose even higher. It holds stories of people whose bravery still echoes through St. Louis and the country.

For 100 years, Route 66 has led adventurers across America. And for decades, I’ve stood here to greet them. If you’re traveling Route 66 and see mee, pull over, I promise I’m worth the stop.

Starting May 1, my lights are going dark for the birds! It’s lights out for me all May, as I help my feathered friends migrate and fly safely across the U.S. It's a tradition I've continued since 2002 and my lights will be back on nightly starting June 1.

You come to me for the views. Then you go to the Old Courthouse for the perspective. It's not a full trip to Gateway Arch National Park unless you've experienced both.
