An international flight allows you 40 kgs of baggage. Our heart can carry a lot more. When I took the one-way flight back from Detroit to Delhi after dropping out my PhD in 2004, I was carrying that baggage. It was not easy. Everyone around me was questioning my decision. Including me. However, I knew that I was capable enough that I would never die of poverty or hunger. My base was covered. Because of my upbringing, education, belief. The privilege that I sat on. I just had to be true to myself - of what I wanted. And it was clear that I didn’t want to do a PhD anymore. Did I know what I wanted to do instead? No. But I knew I could figure it out. And I did. Over the next 2 years, I got through ISB. Took a massive education loan. Got through a consulting job. Got paid more than I had ever imagined I would be. I started seeing money for the first time in my life. It turns out, with time, things gets better, if you decide to never stop getting better. Trust yourself, my friend :)
