This New York Times piece on the January 6th slush fund is worth your time. Here’s what is happening, as simply as I can put it. Back in January, Trump sued the IRS, an agency he controls, demanding $10 billion over the leak of his tax returns a number of years ago. IRS lawyers did their jobs. They wrote a memo laying out the defenses that could beat the suit, including the fact that Trump filed too late. His own lawyer was in court when the leaker pleaded guilty in October 2023, more than two years before Trump sued. The Justice Department never showed up to court. Never argued back. Never used the defenses sitting on their desk. The judge got suspicious and ordered both sides to explain whether they were actually opposing each other or just colluding. The day before that brief was due, Trump dropped the suit. Same day, his Justice Department announced a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded “anti-weaponization fund.”  Trump gets a formal apology. The IRS agrees to drop any audits of him and his family, even though a 2024 Times report found a loss in an ongoing audit could cost him over $100 million. The acting Attorney General, Trump’s former criminal defense attorney, picks the five commissioners who decide who gets paid. Trump can fire any of them. Proud Boys and Oath Keepers are not ruled out. This is the most corrupt thing I’ve ever seen from an American president. Where in the hell are my Republican colleagues? nytimes.com/2026/05/19/adm…

This is an orchestrated disinformation campaign meant to distract you from the fact that (1) the president and his family are looting government funds by the billions and (2) this administration's policies are bankrupting us, no matter how many dollars might be saved in fraud enforcement. That they also want to blame dark-skinned immigrants while they are at it only makes it more disgraceful. The Vice President is truly reprehensible.
JD Vance@JDVance

Today, the task force and the DOJ announced a massive take down of two of the largest Medicaid fraud cases in Minnesota state history, as well as the largest autism fraud scheme ever charged by the federal government. Our message is simple: if you’re committing fraud, we will find you, and we won’t rest until justice is served.

The Trump FDA story is crazy Big Tobacco donated $5,000,000 to Trump's super PAC Two days later, Reynolds American's executives met with Trump at his Florida golf club to demand the FDA reverse its flavored vape ban Trump then personally called RFK Jr. and his health secretary to complain about the ban Then questioned the FDA commissioner directly for not moving fast enough The FDA commissioner who said no resigned days later and so did RFK Jr.'s chief spokesperson, citing the vape policy as the reason Then the ban was lifted within a week The White House says it had nothing to do with the $5,000,000

Mr. Bezos: Let's have that debate. Under my 5% billionaires wealth tax, we'd: -Give $12K to a working family of 4 -Expand Medicare for dental, vision, hearing -Guarantee universal childcare -Raise starting teacher pay to $60K And you'd still be worth $269 billion after taxes.
More Perfect Union@MorePerfectUS

Jeff Bezos on CNBC: "If people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate, but don't pretend that that's gonna solve the problem. You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens.... Airbnb isn't causing high rents. What's really causing high rent is government intervention."

Trump was asked a simple question about Netanyahu. Instead of answering, he turned to Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich and publicly warned her about her fiancé, Republican Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick: “He likes voting against Trump… it doesn’t work out well.” That’s the point now. Not persuasion. Not policy. Public intimidation. A reporter asks a question, and Trump responds by reminding everyone that even your personal relationships can become leverage if you step out of line. And this wasn’t random theater. Trump has already backed revenge campaigns against Republicans who crossed him, including efforts to politically destroy Thomas Massie after Massie broke with him publicly. So when Trump says voting against him “doesn’t work out well,” Republicans understand exactly what he means. Primary threats. Public humiliation. Loyalty tests. Fear. He’s governing the GOP less like a political party and more like a protection racket where dissent gets punished on camera. That’s why he keeps attacking reporters instead of answering questions. The intimidation is the message.

BREAKING: Israel just executed Ahmed Hariri in South Lebanon. He was a paramedic. And a journalist. Israel deliberately assassinated him in a double tap strike while he was rescuing the wounded. They drop bombs on civilians. They wait. Then they drop bombs on the rescuers.

The IRS has agreed to not audit Trump's taxes. In 2024, we found the IRS concluded in a long-running audit that Trump effectively claimed the same massive write-off twice on a failed Chicago tower. That audit could have cost him more than $100 million. propublica.org/article/trump-…

Israel is now dropping bombs on hospitals in South Lebanon. Not military targets. Hospitals. This isn’t a “ceasefire.” It’s a war crime.

Exactly! The USA is losing its dominance with the lying President Trump. Today it is no longer the leader of the democratic world. The USA has become an untrustworthy country that supports domestic and foreign criminals.
Joni Askola@joni_askola

A threat only works if people believe you will act. Today, no one takes Trump's threats seriously. Global leaders know it is all just political theater, and that makes the US look incredibly weak on the world stage
