Fire Recruit Class 26-2 spent the first half of the day outside completing hands-on training before heading into the classroom to continue learning. While Glendale does not currently have recruits in this class, Glendale firefighters are still assisting with training at GRPSTC.

Glendale and surrounding cities recently responded to an apartment fire where firefighters quickly controlled the incident. This is another great example of the automatic aid system in action, with crews from different cities working seamlessly together to get the job done.

While returning to the station after a call, E152B came across a young entrepreneur running a lemonade stand and stopped to pay a visit. Crews enjoyed a refreshing cup and some great community time. It's always a pleasure connecting with our neighbors and supporting local spirit!

We would like to recognize Officer Stratton, Officer Torurica, and off-duty Captain Josh Moore for their quick and courageous response during a vehicle extrication. This Gold Sheet was submitted in recognition of their swift response and exceptional performance.

Congratulations to newly promoted Captain Travis Azevedo! Travis has demonstrated outstanding leadership by mentoring probationary firefighters, supporting charities, and working with high school students in the community. Well deserved, Captain Azevedo!

E159 B Shift recently spent time at the Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center doing hands-on engineer training for their firefighters. Great job getting out there, putting in the work, and continually improving every day!

Recently, firefighters from across the Valley have participated in Instructor I, Officer I, and Officer II courses to strengthen their leadership and teaching skills. Members spent multiple days learning from experienced instructors to better serve their crews and communities.

Since graduating, our newest firefighters have spent the past two weeks learning the department and sharpening EMS skills. This week, they are focusing on EMS equipment and certifications—completing PHTLS and TECC. Next week, they’ll begin their first shifts in the field.

Over the past few months, Glendale Fire crews trained in live burn scenarios, tackling a simulated 3-story condo fire with multiple victims. These realistic trainings sharpen skills and build teamwork, so we’re always ready to provide the best care for our community.

Extreme heat can be dangerous. Stay prepared and look out for one another. Stay hydrated, wear light clothing, and avoid outdoor activity during peak heat. If you don’t have A/C, find a cooling center. Know the signs of heat-related illness and take action early.

Congrats to Captain Gregg Lentz on his retirement after 27 years with the Glendale Fire Department! Throughout his career, Captain Lentz made a lasting impact through his leadership, mentorship, and commitment to the growth of others. Thank you, and you will be greatly missed!

Congratulations to Glendale’s newest HazMat Technicians, Keafer Zuber and Anthony Jenkins! After completing their Hazmat course alongside other valley fire departments, they’re prepared to bring this specialized expertise to the field. Well done!

Last Friday, GRPSTC fire recruit class 26-1 officially graduated and were sworn in as firefighters in their respective cities. Glendale’s newest firefighters will soon be out in the field, putting their skills to work. Congratulations, 26-1!

A tradition to close out the fire academy! Recruit training officers and mentors put back on their red recruit shirts and cooked breakfast for Class 26-1. The recruits showed up in their navy blue shirts to demonstrate that they have completed their academy. Congrats 26-1!

Last week, GRPSTC fire recruit class 26-1 had their family night, giving loved ones a firsthand look at their training. Recruits showcased the hard work and progress made throughout the academy. A proud moment for recruits and their families!
