A son of Bayonne, Barney Frank was one of a kind – a giant in Congress who helped shape our country for the better. Brilliant, fearless, and deeply committed to public service, he fought for consumer protections and was a trailblazer in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality. Our hearts are with his husband, Jim, and all who loved him.

I promised transparency with New Jerseyans every step of the way as we craft our 2027 state budget. April revenues came in stronger than expected, but we’re staying clear-eyed about the fiscal challenges ahead. That’s why we’re cutting another $50 million from our proposal, bringing the structural gap down to about $1.5 billion. I am making disciplined, responsible choices now to protect New Jersey’s financial future and create opportunity for every family in our state.

Devastated by the shooting at a mosque in San Diego. No one should feel unsafe in their house of worship. Our thoughts are with the victims, families, and all those grieving. Hate and violence have no place in our communities. @NJSP will increase patrol visibility around houses of worship statewide and continue coordinating with law enforcement and faith-based partners to help keep communities safe.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s recommit to addressing the youth mental health crisis and protecting our kids. My budget includes a historic investment to counteract the harms of social media and strengthen youth mental health, with funding for the Office of Youth Online Mental Health Safety and Awareness and the creation of the State’s first-ever Social Media Research Center. We have a responsibility to do better – and to ensure every child in New Jersey has the support they need to succeed.

I’ve been in touch with Edison Mayor Sam Joshi, Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch, as well as local fire chiefs, as crews continue responding to the fuel tanker fire on I-287. We are closely following reports of injuries as officials continue assessing the situation. Please follow guidance from the New Jersey Department of Transportation and local officials, and allow first responders the space they need to do their work safely. Thank you to all of the first responders who have been working for hours under difficult conditions to keep everyone safe.

I met with my Cabinet to discuss our work to prepare for the FIFA World Cup this summer, lower costs for families, build a better future for our kids, and make government more transparent and accountable. We’re working quickly to deliver real results for the people of New Jersey.

My Administration’s 21-County “Saving You Time & Money” Tour is well underway! From meeting with business leaders in Bergen County, to visiting J&J’s MedTech Institute in Somerset County, to touring manufacturing facilities in Morris County, we’re connecting directly with the people driving New Jersey’s economy. What we’re hearing is helping shape our work to reform permitting, cut red tape, and improve the overall business experience – building on what’s working and fixing what isn’t. Grateful for the energy, ideas, and partnership as we work to deliver for New Jersey businesses.

We may be hockey rivals – but when it comes to trade, we’re on the same team! I met with Canadian Ambassador Wiseman and Consul General Clark to discuss how we can continue working together to strengthen our economies, expand tourism, and create opportunity for all.

To the class of 2026: keep defying the odds. You should be incredibly proud of all you have accomplished to get to this moment. Congratulations!
