The sound of birds was replaced by the sound of machinery as mature trees and plant life were obliterated and secret gardens, which backed onto the haven frequented by deer at Langleigh, were suddenly exposed. The landowner said he had cleared overgrown areas in order “to manage the field” after removing trees that had got out of hand for neighbours. North Devon district and county councillor for Ilfracombe Sara Wilson said she was “really annoyed and angry” that the work, which had completely changed the environment, had been done in the nesting season (between March 1 and August 31) when the trees were likely to be full of life. devonlive.com/news/devon-new…

@drgbristow @bathnes That’s ok, I know it’s unbelievable to think developers and councils would suggest building on some of the best land in the country. Tbf it’s only used part of the year for sheep, sometimes a few cows. Further on down they use it for crops like potatoes.

@Greenturtle1000 @bathnes My apologies it is class 1, what agricultural activities are carried out on that land? As I said I do sympathise, there is plenty of other places to build on other than Greenfield sites but a Greenfield site is alot easier for developers and so that's what is preferred.

@drgbristow @bathnes That’s what it is according to the land classification maps and B&NES acknowledge that. It’s amenity and recreation as it has well used footpaths. Look it up for yourself if you want 25/03044/OUT

@Greenturtle1000 @bathnes As much as I sympathise I very much doubt it's grade 1 agricultural land if it's being used for recreation and amenity and looks like the picture you have posted. Fight for those things but be accurate about the land classification
