If you imported mydomain.com to ENS, a client wanting to send funds to mydomain.com@base could resolve the ENS cointype for base from the registry and resolve mydomain.com subject to ENSIP-9

@ensdomains @garypalmerjr does the new on.eth multi-chain ID work with tokenized DNS domains (e.g. mydomain.com via Doma/3DNS) too, since they act as full ENS names? Or only native .eth?

@brando_sui @Mawuko @ValidatorEth @ensdomains Watch this space. The on.eth registry can be used to store any chain metadata, including ENS cointypes, and ERC-7930 Interoperable Addresses to aid in the resolution of chain specific addresses.

Every ENS name is designed to be universally usable across all chains ENS supports.
ENS names use the .eth suffix. For example: noobmaster69.eth.
So @ensdomains, why not introduce interop-friendly abstractions that follow more internet-native standards?
For example: resolving noobmaster69.eth as noobmaster69@base.eth rather than noobmaster69.eth@base.

A few weeks ago, alongside @ensdomains, @unruggable_eth, and the EF, we shared Interoperable Addresses.
Today, the team launched the onchain registry that enables names like:

Yup. The @ENS_DAO is smaller so the discussion gets less air time. Ultimately ENS is the identity primitive and needs an appropriate structure to ensure its efficient operation. I proposed one.
I'd love to hear the position of ENS Labs (@ensdomains) and other DAO participants..

this has gotten much less attention than the Aave debate but is much the same
as with Aave, I believe the best solution would be BORGify the related entity(ies) so that the DAO has more direct influence and visibility, but not complete control

@GUA's paper on The Economics of Domains raises lots of good ideas, maybe best of all the model of domains as an economic "singularity" (like art) Domains are "uncommon, incomparable, unique, singular" which makes them super hard to value. They're 1 of 1
