If I were POTUS, this is how I would conduct and conclude a regime change operation in Iran within 72 hours. First 24 Hours: Massive bombardment of air defenses, nuclear sites, and ballistic missile launchers and stockpiles. Assassination of Khamenei and his son Mojtaba. Assassination of Larijani and all key political leadership. Targeted strikes to destroy every single IRGC base in Iran. Targeted strikes to destroy Basij command and control in cities. Await surrender or a coup by the national military (Artesh) and/or a popular uprising toppling the regime. Second 24 Hours: Destruction of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic. Assassination of all key reformist politicians. Targeted strikes to destroy every single military base in Iran. Coordinate seizure of media and other key institutions by revolutionaries. Air drop Lion and Sun flags for a mass popular uprising nationwide. Third 24 Hours: Send Delta Force to secure an airfield in Shiraz. Land Reza Pahlavi and his transition team in the Shiraz airfield. Secure Pasargadae as the site for Pahlavi’s first address to the nation as transitional head of state. Accept surrender from the last elements of the Islamic Republic in Tehran. Embed special forces within defected units of the Iranian national military loyal to Pahlavi to help coordinate establishment of secure conditions in the capital, to ensure the territorial integrity of Iran at its borders, and control over vital oil and gas resources. With the scale of US military force currently deployed around Iran, there is NO REASON why this kind of operation cannot be successfully carried out.
