Many people asking us about #bumblebees at the moment - why they’re seeing them on the ground - so here’s a quick thread to explain what they’re up to. Please #retweet as every #queen that survives means a new colony that gets to exist & produce new queen #bees for next year! 1/8

I've been in contact with members of the press whom I trust. They have the videos of the police at my house, of my son being put in handcuffs, of the officer refusing to let us give him his medication, of my 13 year old autistic kid who can't stand to be touched having to spread his legs before going into the back seat of a police car. All of it. I haven't been given any documents from the state or police. I asked to take a picture of the paperwork and was told no. All they would tell me was the charge. They didn't even read him his rights when they arrested him. I'm going to the courthouse today. When we're cleared to, we'll join my family out of state. And aside to get our things, I'm only coming back to see these people in court.

20,000 year-old fossilized human footprints were discovered in Australia in 2006: they indicate the hunter who made them was running at ~37 km/h (or 23 mph), the speed of a modern Olympic sprinter, but barefoot and in sand [read more: buff.ly/3kzbw6t]

I’m not a supporter of Lidia Thorpe but she was clearly assaulted here. One of the police appears to grab her by the throat and the other throws her to the ground. She is a senator. Why was she handled like this?

To think we could have #raisedtherate for a million Australians or ended the social housing crisis with $368 billion, but why do that when you get 8 nuclear submarines instead. #auspol

This afternoon @larissawaters and I have lodged a Senate motion censuring Senator Hanson for her anti-migrant attack telling me to “piss off back to Pakistan”. I call on all my colleagues to support the motion and affirm that racism has no place in our public debate.

This afternoon I’ve lodged a complaint with the Australian Human Rights Commission over Senator Hanson’s attack tweet. Racism must be held to account.

Senator Hanson’s tweet instigated an avalanche of hate. This whole ordeal has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to deal with. It’s hard to explain the immense toll this takes on you.

While the Senate condemned racism, I’m disappointed it hasn’t formally censured Senator Hanson this afternoon. Her speech was a display of precisely what I was calling out. Unless we call a spade a spade, and name and shame those who perpetrate racism, nothing will ever change.

Racism must be identified and called out every time, and people who spew such hate must face serious consequences. That’s why I moved to censure Senator Hanson in the Senate today.

I don’t always agree with Stan Grant’s perspective on issues, but this is right on point. Why would anyone be expected to celebrate those who stole their birthright? abc.net.au/news/2022-09-1…
