Fantastic news that the UK government has been forced to finally halt its Chagos surrender plans due to US refusal to acquiesce to China ally Mauritius unjustly taking sovereignty. In time there must be a reckoning for those who promoted this deal that denied democratic self-determination for islanders, would have cost the British taxpayer tens of billions of pounds and threatened security as well as the environment - but for now we rejoice! 🇮🇴

Tory and Labour collusion tried to cancel our local elections. Reform UK restored our democracy by challenging the failing Starmer government in court. We've been working hard in Crawley, stepping up to help local residents with the issues our council continues to ignore. Last year we successfully helped shut down a drug gang - and we’ve supported many more residents with their private concerns ever since, such as assisting in the recovery of a stolen car, a few motorbikes and much more. We managed this outside of being elected. Imagine what we can achieve in office. 🇬🇧 Henry Smith (@HenrySmithUK) joined us last year and has been helping as a political advisor. Reform UK will stand up for those who have paid in by keeping the triple lock for state pensioners. ✅

I very much welcome the British Indian Ocean Territory Supreme Court judgement this morning that strikes down then Prime Minister Blair’s 2004 order that denied a right of abode to Chagos islanders on the archipelago. Today’s ruling establishes what should be a basic human right - that of indigenous people being able to live in their homeland. Yet another compelling reason to cancel the Chagos surrender to a chaotic Mauritian government at vast expense to the UK taxpayer, and now respect Chagossian self determination.

FOTBOT has today launched its report, “A New Beginning”, opening the debate on what resettlement of the Chagossian community on their homeland could look like in practice. The report explores how a sustainable return to the Chagos Islands might be achieved.

“China spy suspect claims he met US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, over Chagos. “David Taylor, a former Labour adviser and husband of a current Labour MP, says they met in 2024.” End the suspect, squalid Chagos surrender.

It is only Tuesday, and this Government has already announced an official definition of Islamophobia, an Islamophobia tsar, and plans to push ahead today with restricting our ancient right to trial by jury — all of which will stifle free speech in this country. This is not governing in the national interest. What we are seeing is an attempt to reintroduce Britain’s blasphemy laws, 18 years after they were abolished by Parliament, and the biggest assault on English liberty — particularly free speech — in over 800 years. This Government is becoming increasingly authoritarian and more bullish in its open disdain for free speech. The fight for free speech has never been more important than it is today.

Wow, history really does - almost - repeat itself. I had two Facebook memories, one from 14 years ago today when I was in Washington at a meeting addressed by President Obama about US Iran policy; and another from 11 years ago today, when I gave an interview on my campaign to allow Chagos islander resettlement of their homeland. We are still living with the consequences of missed opportunities.

Clearly the Starmer government is unwilling to defend British territory and interests against foreign threats - whether it’s the Chagos surrender to China ally Mauritius, compromising Gibraltar’s sovereignty to appease the EU and Spain, allowing tens of thousands of fighting age male illegal migrants to cross the English Channel, and now, failing to defend the British Sovereign Base Areas of Cyprus against Iranian regime attacks. The first duty of government should be to defend its people - on all fronts Labour has wilfully failed.
