One way to help nurses wrap up their shifts more quickly: End-of-shift notes that use data already available in the patient's chart, like assessments and interventions. Nurses can review and refine the suggested content in the drafted summary instead of starting from scratch.

Anyone exchanging healthcare data should be accountable under HIPAA. Right now, not everyone is—which means patients can’t be guaranteed that their health records are being used appropriately. washingtonpost.com/health/2026/05…

At @WakeMed in North Carolina, nurses are using the feature with an unexpected benefit for patients’ families. With the feature's help, they're now able to write end-of-shift notes for every shift — and the notes are shared with patients, which means families can read them too. One nurse shared feedback from a patient’s family member: "I am my grandmother’s proxy but live in another state. I can sleep easy when I read the nurse’s note and see that she had a good day.”

Secretary Kennedy — thank you for the challenge. We're in. In 2025, Epic's cost transparency tools helped Americans save approximately $250 million on medications — putting real pricing information in front of providers and patients at the point of prescribing. These capabilities are live and available to all Epic health system customers today, driving shared decisions, reducing pharmacy callbacks, and helping patients choose and adhere to affordable medications. There's more to do. Patients deserve real control over their prescriptions — the ability to choose where they fill, with full visibility into cost and safety. We're committed to expanding what's possible: bringing more pricing and pharmacy options into the workflow, closing the adherence loop with filling pharmacies, and putting meaningful choice back in the hands of patients through MyChart. Done right, this improves medication safety and outcomes for everyone. We welcome the opportunity to work alongside HHS and CMS — now and as the 2027 rule goes into effect — to make medication affordability a reality, not just a policy goal.
Secretary Kennedy@SecKennedy

I’m calling on health IT vendors and providers nationwide to adopt prescription price transparency so Americans never face surprises at the pharmacy counter.

Epic works with specialty societies in a lot of ways, incorporating clinical guidelines and best practices into out-of-the-box workflows. We also bring specialists together to shape content and configuration inside Epic, and have 60+ Specialty Steering Boards made up of hundreds of peer-elected specialists from around the world. The project above, specific to prior authorizations, is designed to speed up the time between a doctor’s decision and care delivery, benefitting both clinicians and patients. Would you like to discuss on a call? We’ll DM.

This sounds interesting @HeyEpic, but if you are working with health plans to enforce their "requirements" as determined by their trade org the AHIP, who exactly does that serve? Maybe consider working with physicians and their societies too (who write the guidelines)?
Epic@HeyEpic

Standardizing what is required across health plans will make it simpler and faster for doctors to get their patients the care they need.  We're working with health plans to make payer requirements transparent for clinicians at the point of care and automatically package up the right information to send for authorization.

To go public, or not to go public? For many tech firms, an I.P.O. is the ultimate sign of success. Judy Faulkner built Epic with a different idea in mind.

Health plans today announced continued progress in advancing the industry’s voluntary, multi-year commitment to streamline and simplify #PriorAuthorization: a new, standardized approach for medical services commonly subject to prior authorization. ahip.org/news/articles/…

We've been converting parts of campus into pollinator meadows — what started as plain fescue is now butterfly milkweed, liatris, and echinacea. And for the last five years, we’ve been installing bird dots — a patterned window film that makes glass visible to birds in flight. More than 33,000 square feet of it is up across campus. It’s working. At fully treated buildings, bird strikes have dropped sharply. Some skybridges went from multiple collisions a year to zero. And the rusty-patched bumblebee — the first bumblebee species protected under the Endangered Species Act, down 87% across its historical range — was first confirmed on campus in 2023. One sighting that year. Three in 2024. Last year: more than ten.

Part of campus is a working farm. The land has been farmed since the 1800s — settlers planted orchards along the hills of the Sugar River valley, and the apple orchard on campus today is an homage to those early days. Sheep, cows, goats, and a donkey graze the pastures in the summertime.
