Each year on May 12, we celebrate Nursing Informatics Day by recognizing the nurses who are advancing healthcare through the thoughtful use of data, technology, and clinical expertise. Nursing informatics professionals play a critical role in shaping digital systems, improving workflows, and ensuring that technology supports both care delivery and patient outcomes. We are proud to work alongside nurse informaticists across the HIMSS community whose contributions continue to strengthen healthcare systems and guide digital transformation. Thanks for all you do.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ivo Nelson, a leader whose impact on HIMSS continues to shape who we are today. Ivo was a passionate advocate for expanding the reach of HIMSS beyond borders. He championed a global vision for the organization with clarity and conviction, presenting that vision multiple times and ultimately encouraging our Board of Directors to align around a more expansive future. His persistence and belief played a meaningful role in setting HIMSS on the path to becoming a truly international community. His commitment extended well beyond the boardroom. Through the Dallas Chapter, Ivo was a consistent and generous contributor to the HIMSS Foundation for many years. He also inspired other chapters, helping to elevate a culture of giving and shared responsibility across the community. Ivo believed deeply in the potential of HIMSS and in the people who make it what it is. He uplifted this community through his leadership, his generosity, and his belief in what we could achieve together. We are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
