@a_srinidhi I don't think so. Ram navami is the holiday in UP. No central holiday anyway.

Interestingly Hindus of Muslim majority areas have preserved the new year celebration. Say Navreh by Kashmiris and Cheti Chand by Sindhis. Both are celebrations of New year. But rest of Hindus in North Indian plains have not. Also over a period of time , many festivals declined

Why North Hindians are not celebrating our new year #ugadi , are they not Hindu's? Happy Ugadi to real Hindu's 🥭🍃

@HmishraHm Doing Panchanga Shravana knowing details about new years Raja and Phala etc. People celebrate 9 days it as part of Chaitra Navaratra worshipping Durga or Rama , as new year it is has declined expect wishes in SM.

@a_srinidhi It's a widespread celebration in north India. The proportion is as many people know in north as in south. In a way, Navaratra is muted in south, local only to temple while it's common to have Ramayan paath, 9 day fasting, kalash sthapan, panchang poojan in every house.

@HmishraHm I know Chaithra Navaratra . We also celebrate Navaratri. But have not seen North Indians (except few) celebrating particularly for New year in home , say how many know the name of Samvatsara or worshipping Panchanga etc. How many even know which year of Vikrama Samvat currently.
