UPI + RuPay Credit Card: Great on Paper, Struggling in Reality
I read 40+ comments and the sentiment is clear:l
👉2%+ MDR (plus GST) is killing merchant adoption, especially for small businesses with thin margins.
👉Even the “free under ₹2,000” rule is applied inconsistently. Platform fees and misclassification issues persist.
👉Merchants want a ₹2,000 cap-lock feature (like Paytm) to prevent accidental high-fee transactions.
👉Even large platforms like IRCTC aren’t accepting RuPay credit cards on UPI.
👉PSPs are bundling all RuPay CC transactions and charging indiscriminately.
👉Some users are closing cards due to low acceptance.
👉Many now call it a “feature on paper” rather than real adoption.
Big picture:
A promising idea, but broken execution.
Unless MDR clarity, enforcement, and merchant safeguards improve, UPI via RuPay credit cards risks slowly fading out instead of scaling up.

UPI + Credit Cards: A Great Idea Losing Steam I have a simple question for @RuPay_npci leadership — and I genuinely hope this reaches the right people. If merchants are allowed to freely disable credit card acceptance on UPI, then what was the objective behind enabling RuPay credit cards on UPI in the first place? What problem did this actually solve? Was the goal wider adoption — or just a feature on paper?

Day 25 of asking PM @narendramodi Sir to cut the freebies budget and increase the R&D budget
Sir, twenty five days into this movement the message is clearer than ever. This is no longer a debate on ideology or politics. It is a question of survival in a competitive world that is moving fast on science, technology and innovation.
India today spends close to 3.2% of GDP on freebies while our investment in R&D remains around 0.64% of GDP. This gap explains why we import critical technologies, why our universities struggle to match global standards and why our brightest minds look outside India for opportunity. Nations that lead the world did not reach there by giveaways. They invested heavily in research, education and innovation long before the results were visible.
The consequences of weak R&D funding are everywhere. Scientists wait years for basic grants. Colleges lack modern labs and equipment. Startups die before innovation can turn into industry. Defence and healthcare depend on foreign technology instead of indigenous strength. This is not bad luck. This is the result of repeated policy choices.
Freebies create temporary relief but they do not create capability. Research creates capability. R&D builds industries that last decades. It creates skilled jobs, strengthens national security, improves healthcare outcomes and reduces long term dependency. Every rupee invested in research multiplies into economic and strategic strength over time.
Sir, supporting the poor is necessary and must continue. But support should empower, not trap people in permanent dependence. Strong education, skills and innovation are the real tools of social justice. When these are strong, welfare becomes a stepping stone, not a lifetime burden on the state.
I respectfully urge you, Sir, and Members of Parliament from all parties to raise this issue in the winter session. Ask the hard but honest question inside Parliament. Can India truly aspire to be a global power while underfunding science, technology and research year after year?
This movement belongs to students, researchers, entrepreneurs and every citizen who wants a stronger India. It is about awareness, not anger. About the future, not elections.
I urge everyone reading this to share, discuss and speak up. National priorities change only when citizens demand long term thinking over short term comfort.
A nation that invests in knowledge secures its future.
A nation that delays research delays its own rise.

#FactCheck: Some sections of the media have reported that the Government of India plans to levy user fees on two-wheelers. #NHAI would like to clarify that no such proposal is under consideration. There are no plans to introduce toll charges for two-wheelers. #FakeNews
