This weekend marks 35 years since the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law. To mark this milestone, my colleague Rep. Jarrells and I introduced HB 32 to designate July as Celebrating Disabilities Month. The bill passed committee unanimously but remains stalled.

Tiara won the most underserved parts of District 7, communities that sit right in the heart of my district. I thought that was a strong point, especially because we literally spent Christmas walking those floors, helping move people out of Sawyer Towers so they wouldn’t freeze to death.

Family, So you hear it from me first: I’m stepping down as the Assistant Minority Leader for the Ohio House of Representatives. Sometimes, leadership shifts. And as the caucus moves forward, I’m stepping into a new season, one where I remain fully committed to the work, focused on delivering legislation that speaks to the real, everyday needs of our people. God gets the glory. Always. Let’s keep building.

Her leadership, marked by fierce tenacity, deep compassion, and unwavering conviction, brought stability in turbulent times. She helped us heal from within, grow stronger as a caucus, and even in the minority, she showed us how to win: for working families, for justice, and for the people we represent. As I reflect on what’s next, I do so with humility and a heart full of gratitude. If my colleagues believe I should continue to serve in leadership, then let it be a decision rooted in trust, collaboration, and collective vision, a decision made from the bottom, not the top. Ohio families are still struggling to pay for groceries, utility bills, and rent. More than 300,000 Ohioans could get an average of $3000 they were eligible to receive from FPUC and still available if @GovMikeDeWine simply follows a court order to claim these federal funds. Do the right thing, and don’t further delay getting these folks the extra money they were due, Governor.
