This is Ifeyinwa Peace Okwudu. The school administrator for Ezzy Nursing College, Enugu. She earlier suspended Joy Ezeugwu indefinitely for speaking against the rot in Uwani General Hospital, Enugu. She then arrested Joy Ezeugwu this morning and demanding N10 million for emotional and psychological damage. A student recently died in her school because of lack of care. 150 more students are in cue to be expelled.

Meetings that were supposed to take few minutes would extend to 1 or 2 hours and end without any progress. Since it was a remote setting, some people will be literally cooking food and when they turn on their microphone to speak, you’ll be hearing sounds from pot. Or do I mention when I texted a colleague on slack and he was not responding on time and I had to huddle? Well, his girlfriend (I suppose) joined the huddle and told me to stop disrupting the movie she was watching on an official laptop. You’ll take your own job serious and try to have async conversations but global talent will tell you he went out to cut his hair and he’s not close to his laptop during work hours. You then check the general channel and he did not indicate he will be offline for a few minutes. Shey na so global talent dey behave? Or is it the lamba during standup?

Politics is not what I am known for. I am an authority when it comes to relationships or marriages. But political decisions or choices affect leadership. And when leadership is poor, men and women are less interested in getting married and raising a family. Or some would use it as an excuse to steal, harm others or go into fraud. I have looked at all the presidential candidates that we have today, and I see that potential in the persons of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso. I won't always discuss politics because I don't like it, and it creates enemies unnecessarily. But I have seen a high level of poverty and shock in the numbers of persons that have been begging for money to survive from close families and friends. And I know it's because of our economy. An economy led by President Tinubu. I have seen wives lose their husbands in a large scale like never seen before due to insecurity. I have seen mothers and wives decide to prostitute themselves because they have to feed their children. I have seen parents enable their children to go into fraud and prostitution because of our harsh economy. I cannot continue to teach people on how to maintain a healthy relationship or marriage, while their pockets cannot sustain it and their children are hungry. I want to promote someone that gives hope to the ordinary Nigerians and has a track record. Do not be distracted by my political posts in recent times. I am doing it because I am concerned with our future. The suffering is too much for a country as rich as Nigeria. And we have leaders who do not show empathy. Rather, they politicize the level of insecurity and massive corruption as a political witch-hunt. Greed and quest for power is the bane. Poverty weaponization is the catalyst. Religion and tribe are the result. You young Nigerians must see these things for what they are. Your mates in countries where they have elected good politicians are getting married very early and raising their families. But you're still begging for recharge card, doing yahoo and olosho on tik tok and IG. This is not the life that was promised to you by these greedy politicians. Take back your country. End.

How do I get high salaries if I live in a country where the local rate is significantly low? 1. Target companies in higher tiers who can afford to pay in the high end of the market rate for your role. 2. Remote opportunities will pay higher than market rate (that’s the only reason they‘re competitive) even though the pay is lower than what you would have gotten in their HQ.

It seems counterintuitive, but by not actively selling or pushing yourself, you actually put yourself out there. I’ll explain. Recruiters, especially in tech, see through the bullshit. They are also very experienced. If you have substance, it does not stay hidden for long. Focus on what matters the most. Build non-trivial side projects, and most importantly have a clear career plan and focus. It is true that it’s difficult to get a job in tech, but imagine you’ve deliberately spent the last 5 or 6 years exclusively optimising for a career in e-commerce or fintech. Any interview for those roles or adjacent roles will be a walk in the park. And on visibility, it should be subtle. You don’t want to be the next LinkedIn banger boy. A lot of people ignore the important things like actually optimising their LinkedIn profile by investing time into the keywords in their header, a well written summary, endorsements of their skills and getting their CTO or manager to write a recommendation. They focus on writing posts that drive traffic without corresponding impact on their career. This is fine if you want to become a tech influencer. Pay attention and observe the people who have the roles you wish you had. Are they trying to be popular? What’s their LinkedIn activity like? It’s almost nonexistent. A few congratulatory comments or likes here and there, and that’s all. For devs, three things are like the flashpoints: your GitHub profile, LinkedIn page and an optional website or portfolio. This is what a recruiter looks at before reaching out to you. The 101 public repos with a project like Todo app, no portfolio project with actual users, sparse LinkedIn page, etc, does not lead a recruiter to your DM. Hold yourself to the highest professional standards you can think of. Something as simple as a proper profile picture on LinkedIn is more important than 30k followers on X. You must understand and define your audience.

@Benn_X1 My question is how do you push yourself out there that shows you are good because some people are good and they don't know how to sell themselves or get very high paying job

The gap between who you are and who you want to be is not talent. It is repetition. Your brain can learn almost anything. It just needs daily practice and enough time to let it stick.
