37 years ago, 97 Football fans went to enjoy a game and never came home. There are no words to describe the tragedy that unfolded at Hillsborough on this day in 1989, it’s also very important for the younger generation of football fans to understand the empathy, solidarity and compassion that should be shown to the families and friends of the victims of Hillsborough. I watched Saipan this week, really enjoyed it, have to say I got quite emotional at the end looking back at that 2002 World Cup and the Keane/McCarthy fallout, like every other kid I was entrenched in it and Keane leaving was just heartbreaking, what could’ve been?
