Kicking off the new year, our paper by @leo_speidel et al. is out describing what to me is a breakthrough in ancient genomics. By using genealogies to study ancestry we can get much more resolution to study finer-scale history. We call this method Twigstats.

New paper! Our stick insects have weird chromosome segregation. The major centromere protein, CenH3, binds to the autosomes in a monocentric pattern, but in a holocentric pattern on the X. doi.org/10.1101/2024.0…

The final chapter of my PhD is on bioRxiv: we show evidence of Slower-Z effect in Schistosoma japonicum. Selective constraints for female-biased genes on diploid Z are relaxed due to sheltering by the W gametolog.
