Kirkpatrick Award ceremony on March 3. “My compatriots who even today make me proud to be a Russian. And it is to them, to their resilience, to their courage, to their struggle that I want to dedicate this award.”

“I’m proud to be identified as one who exemplifies what WDN stands for,” said @BeatriceKiraso, the 2026 recipient of IRI’s @wdn’s Jeane J. Kirkpatrick Award. “I feel even more resolve to strive to transform communities… and turn individual courage into collective democratic power that changes lives and strengthens governance.”

Immensely proud of my better half @ekaramurza receiving the @IRIglobal Jeane J. Kirkpatrick Award. She dedicated it to all women who are standing up to Putin’s dictatorship — and many of whom are currently imprisoned.

(3/4) Kara-Murza, one of the leading figures of the Russian pro-democracy movement, was recognized for her leadership in advocating for political prisoners in Russia and those putting everything on the line for freedom.
