@gvanrossum It’s a bit more nuanced than that. US meddling in the Middle East over the last century+ is about oil and the petrodollar. Israel has been a useful attack dog and chaos agent, as well as a convenient scapegoat when it all goes wrong. We’ve been here before.

I was part of a group of rabbis who met again yesterday with @ZohranKMamdani. While we were pleased to be able to discuss our concerns with the mayor-elect, those concerns remain. We've never before had a mayor who has expressed this kind of ideological hostility to the very existence of Israel. It is not about policy differences; rather, it is about the denial of Israel's right to exist as a Jewish state at all. I continue to worry deeply about the upcoming four years and conveyed to the mayor-elect that anti-Zionist rhetoric and anti-Israel policies will threaten Jewish safety in NYC and will, inevitably, lead to an unproductive and tense relationship with the Jewish community. What Mr. Mamdani says and which policies he pursues is up to him — he will be the mayor — but I emphasized that the Jewish community will energetically oppose any and all anti-Israel rhetoric and action.

First of all, I’m not an apologist - I proudly stand with Israel. Secondly, the false “genocide” claim is probably scary to people that don’t actually know who those “genocide scholars” are. These are groups committed to the destruction of Israel that have infiltrated academia and nonprofit institutions. I’m deep enough in this world to know how this works. Countries and individuals committed to destroy Israel fund people like you and fund fake scholars. There is no genocide without intent. Israel does not have any proven intent to hurt Palestinians civilians. On the contrary, this war has been prolonged by the remarkable restraint they’ve shown. The civilian to combatant death ratio is some of the best in modern warfare. There’s never going to be a successful case against Israel in the ICJ. Until there is, your claim is just political hot air. From my point of view, the person that does not value Palestinian life is you. You’re part of a political project that serves them up as meat for a machine, justifying terrorism, ignoring war crimes, and using children as human shields. This is morally abhorrent. Here’s my plan to help the Palestinians. Kill the terrorists, stop radicalizing them into wasting their lives on carnage, and get them international community to invest in building a paradise. Yours is to continue offering them as human sacrifice to trying and failing to destroy Israel. I will not be lectured by someone who wants this incredibly dark fate for them.

It is my understanding Ireland is about to make a motion to the European body governing soccer to ban Israel from playing in European soccer tournaments.   Ireland and others would be punishing the Jewish people 80 years after the Holocaust because they choose to fight back against terrorist groups who wish to kill all the Jews. Some conservative voters intended to vote for @CurtisSliwa because they believed, based on the early polls, that @ZohranKMamdani was a lock to win. In other words, they thought they could vote their ‘conscience’ without affecting the outcome of the election. Now that the polls have narrowed to a margin of error between @andrewcuomo and @ZohranKMamdani, it is critical to vote for Cuomo to save NYC. Every vote matters. We can save NY from Socialism and from a mayor with no experience who wants to defund the police, and whose entire political agenda is driven by his foreign policy views and his failed ideology rather than what is best for NYC. Cuomo is extremely experienced and capable. He has made some mistakes and learned from them. That’s where judgment comes from. He will be a great mayor. Call your kids, mom, dad, siblings, friends and colleagues and make sure they vote for Cuomo tomorrow because NYC is a terrible thing to waste.

This is actually exactly what America is about. Shalom from Tel Aviv. It was Hapoel fans throwing military grade smoke grenades that led to the Tel Aviv derby being called off. Maccabi fans not involved. That won’t stop malign actors trying to spin this. Remember: all they have is lies.

@IritKatriel @Mr_Andrew_Fox No. UEFA deals with that on the basis of fan conduct. Some teams do get banned but because they are causing trouble after a fair process. Not because local racists will attack them.
