"Leila and I finally settled on a little black dress I'd made in college, which used to be formfitting but now hung slightly loose. I'd been so swept up in every thing, that without even being aware of it, I'd lost a few pounds." Sarah Lotz, The Impossible Us

"She's shorter than him by a foot, about the same age, slim but not skinny; there's a softness to her cheeks and the line of her jaw. Attractive in a quiet way." Catherine Ryan Howard, 56 Days A bit more subtle, but still don't worry--the main character is thin!

@theames I started my account just to record these details, because they are so ubiquitous. I read fairly broadly but it’s still rare that a book doesn’t mention the female MC’s relative smallness. And, just like you said, it makes me feel weird about my own body!

"As I look in the mirror, I notice I have lost weight in my face since David left. While I have always had a slim frame, my butt and face seem to be the first to pick up any extra weight." Taylor Jenkins Reid, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo 🙏 to @eajardina for this!

“Like Anna Kendrick, Audrey was also petite with auburn hair and, if you were straining for a celebrity look-alike comparison, had a similar facial structure, though she didn’t really have the sam angularity to her jaw” -Emily M. Danforth, Plain Bad Heroines
